Bathroom & shower hard to find at night, not on e map. Shower inadequate with push button spicket and auto shut off and hard water stream . Cold water, not hot. No place for hanging clothes, towels, or sitting. Heater that doesnt turn off or have variable temp. Our site advertised as with a lake view but no view.

This is an amazing little park. You think you're driving almost through the middle of Asheville, you turn on a little 2 lane road, drive a couple of miles, and suddenly, you're deep in the heart of the forest. Every site is wooded with plenty of space, the bathhouses are clean, hiking trails everywhere, a little lake for fishing, swimming or boating. Drive 10 minutes at most and you've got great restaurants, places to shop; anything you'd want to do in the city. It's a fantastic place to camp!

Love being in the woods yet so close to so much in the great Asheville area. Roomy comfortable site with FHUs. Nice! A bit too expensive given it is a public campground.

We always have a great time at Lake Powhatan. Between the Blue Ridge Parkway and the charming town of Asheville, there are always things to do in addition to camping. But we always try to allow some time to enjoy the campground itself. We like to hike, stroll around the campground roads, or just hang out in our camp, reading or talking under the trees. It's a beautiful place to escape the world!

Beautiful campground. Lots of hiking trails and the camp spots are not crowded. Employees and hosts were very nice. If you are looking for perfection, here are things that could be better...there were a lot of dogs and a decent amount of barking/noise (you'll get this most everywhere that allows pets...I get it). The mobile reception was terrible, so don't rely on it. We had Starlink, which helped a lot, but the beautiful tree canopy made finding a lot of open sky a challenge. We found enough to do basic functions...texting, checking email, etc. Voice calls were tough due to limited sky at our spot and most spots had a lot of tree canopy, so you sacrifice a little connectivity for the gorgeous setting. Finally, the bath and shower house in our loop (lake loop) didn't have much capacity. Thankfully, with a full hookup and a tankless water heater, we used our camper bathroom/shower and didn't need the public facilities. I'm told the beach bottom in the water is pretty mucky, although we did not use it. The lake is pretty though.Those are, in my mind, minor gripes. Overall, probably the best spot we've camped at yet.

Quiet, peaceful, well maintained and clean. We had an exceptional stay at Lake Powhatan- easy step off for Pisgah NF, Asheville, or the BRP.

We have come to Lake Powhatan to camp several times in the past few years even though it is nearly a 5-hr drive for us pulling the camper. I love the proximity to the Arboretum and thevBlue Ridge Pky. Also enjoyed the Ashville Bitsnical gardens on a previous trip - a real gem. Another big plus is full hook-ups in the Lakeside loop which makes it much easier for a longer stay.

Beautiful campground! Staff here were so friendly and welcoming. The sites were large and private. You can hike lots of trails and around the lake directly from the campground. We didn’t use the bathhouse facilities so I can’t speak to those. Great experience our first time out in our travel trailer!

I cant imagine a more beautiful setting. We were surrounded by woods but only a few minutes from convenient shopping. Weve camped at Lake Powhatan before and will camp there again. We camped in a 26 travel trailer.

We loved the campground, bathrooms were clean and campground was extremely quiet even though it was full. The lake swimming area was not as nice as we wanted it to be, but otherwise it was a great stay!

A beautiful, well-kept campground with lots of trees and distance between sites. Make sure you visit the North Carolina Arboretum which is right next door! Lots if great trails and an easy drive to Biltmore and downtown Asheville.

We stayed in site 48 for 7 days in the spring. The site was just long enough for our travel trailer and truck. It was not quite wide enough for a camping mat and the picnic table was outside our awning reach. The sites are nicely spaced and generally private. Hook ups were good. No cell service. Great walking trails. Nice clean bathrooms. Too many barking dogs at first but settled down by the third day. Doggy bags/trash recepticle well stocked and emptied. We visited Biltmore and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

We had a full hook up site. Our site had little room on either side. We drove to the beach area and discovered that you would have to climb down trails to the beach. The staff were very nice and informative re: a nearby bear sighting. There were nice trails.

Beautiful campgrounds nestled in the woods. Close access to Asheville and all the local amenities. The Arboretum is next door, making it an awesome trip for a day.
