I went June 2 2024. It was not very full. It was very wet everywhere like a tropical rain forest including the very large picnic table. There was no grass on my site. There were paths to the bathroom directly from my campsite and all other campsites in our circle but it was not marked so on the attempted return to my campsite at night after using the bathroom, I got turned around and lost and couldn't find my campsite without walking all the way around the circle road. A small post or sign indicating which path goes to which campsite would be helpful. Overall it was quiet and I would visit again.

The staff at Lake Powhatan is simply super and at the heart of a most successful stay there. Mark and his people are constantly present for any questions or concerns. The bathrooms are immaculate all day long and the campsites are cleaned after every departure. Ice and wood for sale. Faulous experience.

Everything was perfect. They even offer full hook up. Trails were easy but there’s so many without having to get in a vehicle. Facilities were clean and close, just wish shower heads weren’t so close to wall… hard to wash long hair. Private, perfect for dogs, and plenty of trails. We will definitely be back.

We never made it to the campsite due to a major accident in the highway.

Campsites that were listed as allowing generators are misleading because when you arrive you are notified that generators are actually not allowed after quiet hours. This was a big problem for me as I sleep with a medical device which requires electricity and I booked the site because of what the website said.
However, when I went to the staff and told them, they were very gracious, kind and accommodating and moved us to a site with power. Restrooms and park in general were always clean and maintained. I cannot say enough about how great the staff was. I'd definitely return.

Great campground. Clean bathrooms and well spaced camp sites. I like the change in elevation of the sites too. The overflow car allowance of three spots could pose an issue with larger groups and greater than the 2 car allowance at each site. The cell service is spotty but it appeared fine on top of Big John Loop.
