Campsite 27 was a great, large campsite. Very close to bathrooms/showers, water spigot, and a short walk to the lake. Level area with plenty of space for 2 tents. Previous reviews said the bear box was installed backwards, but that is now fixed. Tons of hiking in the Powhatan area, and just a few minutes from civilization. Spotty cell service (T-Mobile).Only issue was one of the two bathrooms' sinks was not functioning while we were there, but we heard that was getting fixed the day we were leaving.

Great campground near Asheville! The tent pad had plenty of space for our 2 tents. The restrooms and showers were clean and convenient, and there's a nice lake nearby to hang out at. I expected mosquitoes, but there weren't any (in early May). We only had 2 issues but they're minor: the metal bear box at our site (Bent Creek Loop #27) was installed backwards... it opened into a patch of poison ivy instead of facing the driveway and campsite, so we kept our food in the car. The other small issue was the path from our site to the restroom was narrow with a lot of poison ivy along the way. A good trim would do well there. Otherwise, we had a great time and would stay again. Friendly and welcoming campground staff as well.

Great spacious site! Close to bathrooms and water was right in front of site. Spotty cell service (T-Mobile) but was able to send and receive messages. Trail to the beach is close but it is a very steep trail down. Definitely will stay again when the weather gets warm!

Wonderful location, close to Asheville for what the city offers, but remote enough to find quiet in nature. Close enough to hike to the arboretum and surrounded by lovely trails, and just a quick drive to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Very well maintained sites with convenient bathrooms and water, nice lake with space to swim or boat in season, picnic spots. Would definitely return!

I was on site 27, Bent Creek loop, tent site, no electric. This site was great, well spaced from other sites and very close to a bathhouse. Pretty good amount of trees and undergrowth between sites.

Whole campground well laid out. Many trails for bike and hike in the area, (I am still trying to get to them all.) NC Arboretum right next door and worth the visit.
Asheville is a great city for arts, places to eat, breweries, and more outdoor adventures. Highly recommend the campground and entire area.

This campground is great and I’ve stayed many nights in years past. However, this trip we showed up to campground unexpectedly hoping to find a spot that hadn’t been taken. There were plenty of sites open but we were instructed to “turn around and drive back to civilization for cell service so we could book on the website. We were given no option to just pay there like any of the other state campgrounds we had stayed at around the country. This was a waste of precious time and really bugs me therefore the less than five star review.
