Bring noise canceling earphones if camping Friday and Saturday night. Lots of noise on our experience, but otherwise a great spot to camp. Baths clean, campsites clean, and just an all around good experience. Staff was fantastic.

Great park, good location convenient to everything in the Asheville area. Facilities are well maintained and clean. A few areas for improvement/things to be aware of. First, most sites do not have hookups. If you need them, book early. Second, connectivity is poor. No Wifi and cell service is VERY spotty. Finally, not all sites are level. Ours was fine, but I would recommend that you come prepared to do some leveling.

Great campground, very quiet. Staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Great biking and hiking right from park. Definitely will visit again!

Hiking/MTB trails, which are accessible from the campground, were beautiful and had a lot of miles to explore. They could be marked better in relation to the map provided. We managed, but it seemed to be common frustration by others we would pass who were also lost. It was a full and busy weekend, the bathhouse was frequently cleaned. Sites are nicely spaced and well kept. No cell reception anywhere (campground or trails), recommend an alternative for the weather updates and download any trail maps in advance of arrival. Enjoy!

The campground is well maintained. The staff are friendly. The trails are well maintained. The interpretive nature signs along the trails are a nice touch (but some are hard to read because they are so old). The trails rated easy are probably rated easy for hikers. Not so easy for mountain bikers.

My friends and I have stayed at Lake Powhatan several times over the years, and we are always excited to come back. Especially when other campgrounds at higher elevations would be way too cold, Lake Powhatan is always a great choice. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and have taken the time to explain things to new campers like my friends and I are. The amenities at the campground are clean and well-kept, and the bathrooms near our tent camping spot were even heated during our frigid stay in November. There is an Ingles not too far of a drive from the campground which is perfect for restocking on groceries. Overall, we have always had great trips to Lake Powhatan, and we are sure to be back this fall too!
