Came all the way from south Florida! It was my first time ever camping! we did tent camping and i had the most amazing 9 days at Lake Powhatan. The campsite is beautiful! trees everywhere so its mostly shaded and cool! the bathhouse was clean and the showers were warm. I loved it so much! Cant wait to be back.

Nicely situated tent site, relatively convenient to restrooms and trash dumpters.

Only complaint: the tent sites are gravel over rocks/stones; underlying rocks make setting tent stakes in the ground somewhat difficult.

The campground was clean and quiet. Come quiet time it was like a switch had flipped and everyone went quiet. Compared to commercial campgrounds these sites were huge and well spaced so you're not super close to your neighbors.
This campground is great for people that don't have health issues that limit physical activities. If you have limitations then reserve a site that has water/electric and close to the bath house as there is no parking at the bath house. Also, the lake was off limits to me as I'd never be able to hike back up from the lake to the lake parking area. The campground was also well located to other areas. Ashville was a few minutes away, Cherokee an hour away, Pigeon Forge TN was just over 2 hours away. Other places were also relatively close for day trips. I would stay here again only I'd be.much wiser in the site I selected.

The people were super vague with information, they are half bear friendly half non-bear friendly ??.. the facilities itself was fine, but the price for wood is a little spendy so get it outside the campsite. Otherwise very nice, and very family oriented.
