This is a Great campground with good bathroom facilities and showers. We love the hiking and the wild flowers in the Spring are awesome. The dump station is a bit muddy but easily accessible. All the staff is helpful and the Camp Hosts are super.

Really nice campground, there are a ton of hosts on site, most were nice but one was not. If you want to move sites they are not flexible, you cannot move to an open unreserved site without eating the full cost. This was our first time here. Front loops are essentially an RV park and people run generators all day. Some of the sites are full sun. We had one of those and moved to a FCFS site in loop 5. If you are a tent camper would recommend booking back there, sites are all shaded and it's over the river so there is no noise from all the RVs. Bummer they let all the RVs in, based on other reviews these used to not be allowed and it would really be an amazing place without all the generators in the front.

Our family has a long history of enjoying this campground and Kimsey Creek, and the access to the Appalachian Trail. We were sorry to hear of the demise of the big tulip poplar, but didn't get to "pay our respects" on this trip. I think the berries we found and enjoyed were black raspberries. Playing in the river was a big part of the fun ... from the great-grandson on up the generations! Thanks to a very kind fellow camper, my grandkids got a small taste of tubing. We loved seeing the hummingbirds on the Bee Balm.

Standing Indian Campground is a great campground if you get the right site. There are no photos of the individual sites, so you can’t see what you are reserving. We arrived and found our site had no trees and was out in an open field. We needed trees to set up a tarp in case of the forecasted rain. We went back to the check in and were told we could pick a first come first served site and then cancel our reservation. This is what we did and our campsite was very nice - lots of trees and surrounded by rhododendron so it was very private. The restrooms were nice and the hot showers worked well. The little store had a variety of supplies but not huge. Several trails right out of the campground made hiking convenient. We will go back!
