There were 2 showers that had issues with the water temperature being scalding and you could not adjust it. The drains in the showers did NOT drain so you had to stand in standing water. There was only 1 working toilet. The bathrooms were filthy, the trash overflowing and the only trash dump was outside the park. There was no water spouts to connect to. They had about 4 HAND PUMPS. I wish I had known about this sooner because I would not have booked this campground.

Very nice campground with beautiful view of the water. Sites are generous size and many are shaded. Bathhouse is a bit dated but adequate.

No working showers. Sign on the door by the campsite manager saying they were trying to get them working.

The location was a nice home base for exploring other areas like Atlantic beach, New Bern, etc. we were disappointed that the beach area and trails leading to the beach were closed due to storm damage.

We would tell you to ignore the negative reviews. This is just a campground with no camp office, store or specific place to check-in. There is a gate (unlocked) with a sign asking campers with reservations to call/text the host upon arrival. The gate is squeaky when moved to enter/leave, meaning no one can sneak in. Many of the sites offer some privacy from their neighbors and a few do not. The campground has minimal lighting allowing good night skies. The bathhouse feels neglected and not maintained but at least the showers have great water pressure. The paths into the woods are well marked and easy walking. The hurricane in 2018 took down a terrible amount of trees and destroyed safe access to the beach which is down a cliff edge. The park is clearly lacking the resources to repair the damage and thus the beach is closed. Skip this park it's too basic a campground. The host family at the gate kept to themselves and the other host was a helpful resource when asked.

It was a nice, quiet, clean campground. As others have described, the check-in process is a no-contact text at the gate. I received a text back with instructions and maps. It wasn't a problem. There is a nice paved trail that loops around the campground and also a few single-track trails. The "Flanners Beach and Croatan National Forest Loop," trail became pretty over-grown near the water and we couldn't find the continuation of the trail. I would stay again.

We have been traveling from California all across the country for 5 months and this was the best campground ever.

Love the campground. I grew up near there and it’s great to see the place. Had to move sites because the power wasn’t working right at 16. Really wish you would rebuild the stair to the beach, looks like you spent so much effort to put up fences that the stairs would have been done already.

Not a lot to do at the campground. Beaches are “gone” nothing but cliffs left!
No place to fish!

No beach access and posted fines for those who try. Campground was quaint and quiet as expected. Bath house needed some exterminator attention to get rid of some of the residents. Trails were nice. Little bit of a pain to open/close the manual gate to access loop, but good to keep only campers traveling the road. Nothing too negative, but not a stay I’ll do again.

Beautiful, clean site. Gracious host. gorgeous views about 100 meters from campsites. nice, short, paved walking trails and mountain bike paths. electricity was a bit surgy, (bring surge protector). spanish moss was present.

As others had said, the beach is no longer accessible. There are still lovely trails and nice views.
It's interesting to see all the trees that were blown down in the hurricane and the new growth that is coming up.
The campsites were very clean.
I only use the bathroom once and everything in it was wet like the entire room had just been hosed down. Even the toilet paper was wet. Maybe I just got there at the wrong time.
