A great campground. Most electric sites have good spacing and privacy. Clean showers. Major shopping and restaurants only 12 miles away. Friendly hosts. This was my second time here and I've already reserved another two weeks a month away. Only issue is somewhat weak Verizon signal but good enough. My ATT was a little stronger and generally fully acceptable.

Nice bike trails and water views. Outdated showers & bathroom, both in desperate need of updating. Sites varied from fairly private to completely exposed. Damp environment. Good access to AT&T services and close shopping and activities.

It’s a beautiful campground with trails and beach but the beach is closed now due to hurricane damage but still worth the visit. Turn right and go up to the gate to check in via text.

This probably use to be a nice place to stay. Cockroaches in the bathroom both days, no toilet paper both days, filthy showers and the ADA shower was permanently locked leaving only 2 showers for the entire campground. One of the 2 women’s toilets were locked from the inside and one of the 2 sinks were covered too. Quiet time was not enforced. No beach due to a hurricane and you aren’t even able to see the water. You have to open and close a gate to enter/exit campground. It’s sadly not up to the usual excellent National Forest standards.

Great experience at Flanners Beach! The hosts were really helpful and nice. The campground was very well maintained, clean and accessible. All the sites looked very level. There was a burn ban while we were there but because of the depth of the fire rings, we could still have a fire. But also because of the depth of the rings you can’t enjoy seeing it. Not having a campfire would have been worse for me personally. There are really nice paved and unpaved bike/walking paths. Most of the sites have plenty of shade unless you’re up along the river. The river is within site but you can’t get to it because of damage from Hurricane Flo.
We went into New Bern to the Tryon Palace and Gardens and really enjoyed it. The tour of the palace is interesting and not so long that it gets tedious. The story is quite interesting and well worth the $20 fee. The gardens are beautiful!!
We also drove over to Emerald Isle, about 40 minutes away, and enjoyed a nice day on the beach.
We’ll definitely go back!

Beach was closed; spots, while nice & level, were a little tight. hosts were very helpful.

Stayed at site #35. Excellent campground! Quiet, clean, and plenty of hot water for the showers. The bathroom and showers were well maintained and centrally located. Highway 70 is a busy road, lots of traffic. Easy drive to the beach. Walked a couple of trails which are nice and maintained. Access to the beach is closed (due to previous hurricane). Be nice when that is open. Will camp there again.

We stayed in the campground, and as others have mentioned, the Camp Hosts can really ruin a camping trip. We booked our site online, arrived on a Saturday, paid for 14 nights. On Tuesday of the 2nd week, an angry man came over and was yelling for me to come out of the RV, apparently one of the hosts. He insisted I'd stayed beyond my 14 days and I leave immediately. He had the other host 'Jacqueline' on his phone(who checked us in 10 days prior), who also insisted we'd stayed beyond our 14 days. He put his finger in my face, saying he was calling the Cops, then stormed off. I called the District Rangers Office, and they had someone come by. I printed out my reservation receipt showing our check-in date, and he said 'Yep, you're good', and left. Later I get a text from 'Jacqueline' saying Thursday would be 14 days, and I should leave by then. She could not comprehend that 14 days from a Saturday, will always fall on another Saturday. I just no, I'm leaving Saturday. And I called the Rangers office back. An hour later I get a text from 'Jacqueline' saying they would not bother us again till our Saturday departure. This was crazy, the sheer inappropriate anger, the inability to use a calendar, demeanor in general.
