Fun shallow area for kids to swim clean camp sites but beware of fleas and ticks they are infested my 3 yr old got 3 ticks on him even with tic spray and my puppy also got fleas and ticks even after he had been treated.

Way too expensive. Was coming off of the Florida Trail, so $50 for one night was just too unreasonable for a backpacker not using all the amenities. If it wasnt so late I likely would have just pushed through to the next site. At least they have potable water and bear protection.

Terry and Jerry are amazing hosts! The bath houses were incredibly clean and well maintained. The campsites were all immaculate with bear boxes for your food, a pristine grill and fire pit. We spent every morning playing in the lake; whether kayaking or stand up paddle boarding (which we rented for next to nothing from the gate house) or just sitting in our inflatable chairs. The water is clear and warm!We will 100% be back to camp here!!!

Me and my family love this local park. We go there often and it's always fun times in the wilderness. Many things to do, like hiking fishing swimming canoeing and after an adventurous day you can clean up in hot water in their very roomy shower stalls. Will continue going here for ever. No electricity but that takes the fun out of camping. It's mostly breezy at night at each camp site but the ticks and mosquitoes will eat you alive. So be prepared with some type of bug defense. We love Clearwater

Site was extremely spacious. We had 2 trucks in driveway and 3 tents spaced at least 20 feet apart. Picnic table was approx 10 feet long and we kept that in open air near the fire ring. The Bear Bin was very useful for keeping food stuffs organized and safe. Very quiet park even during the night hours. Women's bathroom was clean and water hot. We enjoyed the nature walk around the lake and was pleasantly surprised to see benches along the way. Only disappointment was signs for no fishing.

Clearwater Lake is one of my very favorite places! My parents took me camping and swimming there when I was a tot, and I took my children there when they were little. Over 50 years, little has changed, other than that the restrooms and showers are nicely modernized. If you love pine and live oak forests, sunsets and sunrises over shimmering water, abundant wildlife, and spacious campsites, then Clearwater Lake is the place for you! Note that this is not an RV resort, and amenities are few... hot showers, nice restrooms, a dish-washing room, large campsites, and nature galore. But you will not find electricity at the campsite, work-out equipment, a swimming pool, or other things you may find at a camping resort. You WILL find a lovely lake that is perfect for children to swim in, as the shore slopes gently and stays shallow for a long way out. Good swimmers may swim or float out in the deep area all the way across the lake if they desire. There is an easy hiking trail around the circumference of the lake that is 1.8 miles around with resting benches along the way. You may bring canoes, kayaks, rafts, and other floating devices for use on the lake, or you may rent canoes or kayaks on site. Motorized boats and jet skis are not allowed. The campground itself offers ice, firewood, charcoal, and fire starters for sale. Just a mile or two to the left on State Road 42 is a country convenience store with essentials you may need while camping, and if youd like a nice meal out, there is an Italian restaurant just a ways up the road to the left as well. To the right coming out of the rec area will take you 7 miles to Altoona, a little town with a Dollar General, a couple restaurants, and Grahams U-Pick Strawberry Farm.If your expectation is to enjoy nature, swim, hike, bike, float, or jog in a natural setting, cook over an open flame, and get back to a simple way of enjoying life, you will LOVE Clearwater Lake!
