I was caught off guard that walk ins were no longer allowed, that I had to have a pre paid reservation. There was minimal cell service at Clearwater Lake. So I had to leave the campground, drive a few miles and pull off when I had good cell service to make a reservation. I was not happy about that.

Been here many times. The only negative (big negative) was I have never had to have a reservation for a weekday or Sunday night stay. This time I was not allowed in by the host because of new "must have" advance reservation policy. I had to leave the campground to find good cell service so I could make a reservation and drive back. very unlike any USFS experience.

Arrived here after leaving lake dorr. Nice campground. Huge sites. Helpful staff. Helped me back into site. Unfortunately after only being there a short time I walked out of camper and broke my ankle. Took a couple of hours for my family to get to me. Camp staff said it was ok to leave the unit in the spot till I could get back to get it next day. More than helpful. Thank you. Cant say the same about Lake Dorr

Great place, fantastic staff. The ranger at registration was very helpful and pleasant. She answered all my questions, gave great advice and was very friendly. The other staff assisted with renting a kayak, gave advice on different types and where to paddle and bike. Overall great place with clean bathrooms and facilities. Definitely recommend Clearwater.

Quiet and peaceful. Sandy bottom lake. Lot 2 is for small units or tents. Most other sites would be ok for larger units (the number of maximum foot allowance doesn't match actual site--most can handle rigs bigger than 22 or 25). Pads are narrow and some sites require higher level on one side so it's gigantic step down. Trees should be trimmed overhead--very close to hitting top for an RV. Also shoulder asphalt needs repair--big drop offs in a few spots and sites. If those repairs were made would be 5 stars.

Nice, small camp ground with easily accessible bathrooms with showers and a dishwashing station. The campsite are decently spaced out with a fire pit, grill, and bear-proof locker. The lake has a sandy beach area great for kids. Canoes are first come, first serve. There are only 2 canoes (and some kayaks), and can only be reserved by one group for the entire day. We were lucky to ask and find out this information first thing in the morning so we were able to rent them for the day. The bike trail is a quick ride from the campsite. It is very peaceful and ideal for a mountain bike as it was sandy in spots with lots of pine needle cover. Definitely recommend if you like biking in the woods and canoeing on an undeveloped lake. We will be back for sure!
