Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our campsite, #5, was large and clean. There was a fire ring, picnic table, lantern pole and bear resistant box for food / cooler storage if needed. Vegetation between the sites allow for some privacy. The bathhouse was clean, however the air hand dryer, at least in the mens room, need to be changed out as it wasnt blowing hard enough to dry my hands. My wifes comment was We can come back here.

Clearwater Lake Recreation Area is tops on our list of favorite camping spots! Beautiful woods, private camp sites, and very hospitable, helpful staff. It's also a great place for hiking, and a central spot for paddling other Ocala streams and lakes, particularly Alexander and Juniper Springs. We love this place!

Terry, Jerry and the crew were excellent and very accommodating. They made every effort to help us have a good experience. The recreation.gov site was not helpful and wouldnt allow us to change campsites online, or with either support help during 2 phone calls. Terry was able to make it happen. She saved my vacation!

Nice campground, mostly shady. The facilities are kept clean. The staff working were so friendly. Someone even came around at night telling people rain was on its way so campers could prepare. The lake is beautiful and the beach is nice. My only issue is that the sites were not as private as i prefer. But overall a really nice place to stay.

Very clean and peaceful. Friendly staff and well worth the stay. Beautiful smaller lake with a nice trail around it. Enjoyed my stay.

Great place to be with the family and kids. Quiet at night, beautiful landscape and clean. The spaces for camping and wide, clean and comfortable. The staff is respectful and kind, very helpful when you need anything. We had a great time there, will definitely be back in the future.

Clearwater Lake was a great campsite! We went as a family over a 4 day weekend. We had campsite 6 in Loop A/1. It was surprisingly spacious. The camp hosts were kind and helpful. They brought the firewood we bought to our campsite for us. They also checked in before and after a big storm rolled through. The bathroom facilities always had toilet paper and were clean. The showers were extra hot and nice to use.A bonus we didn't expect: a dishwashing station! Between the bathrooms was a small room with a sink where you could use hot water and wash your dishes. The beach area is smaller than we anticipated, and dogs are not allowed on the beach. We didn't spend time there because it was too cold, but we also didn't have anywhere to leave our dog safely.Overall, it was a great weekend, and we would come back!

Other than having zero cell signal, we loved our stay here! The hot showers and bath houses were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I work remotely so was happy to find a library only a mile away where I had access to WiFi and could plug in my computer. There is a wildlife reserve, about a 1/4 mile from the library. There is a cell tower on the property and the signal (for Verizon) is blazing fast. We could park in the lot, download all our shows from Netflix and watch at night with no problem. The campsites are spacious and gorgeousbut the paved drive you have to stay on is narrow and short. (There are natural springs under the grass that feed into the lake, and run under some of the campsites. Thus the strict no driving/parking on the grass rule.) The palms and pines provide great privacy. Ocala is a gorgeous forest. The gate is locked at 6 each evening, and it locks campers IN as well as intruders OUT so be aware! (You are given a code upon arrival, but I had zero luck getting it to work the one evening I attempted to leave. Ah well) Absolutely love this National Forest. The beach is small and quiet, and the lake is Cold and crystal clear. Lots of birding opportunities (bring your binoculars!) The Florida Trail is right outside the gate to the forest. Its a beautiful walk and sees quite a bit of foot traffic. If you are looking for a true camping experience in a beautiful setting away from the noise and bustle of the big touristy places? THIS is the campground for you! Reserve online to ensure a spot!
