My boyfriend and I reserved this campsite after doing some research and absolutely loved our trip. The staff were incredible; Jenna went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a wonderful experience. Since we were located further into the park, she graciously delivered our firewood to our campsite so we didn't have to lug it all the way to the back to camp! The bathrooms and showers were spacious and clean, and there was plenty of wildlife to enjoy during our stay.During one of our days, we rented a kayak for a couple of hours. The staff was informative and helpful, providing guidance on a turnaround point and the path. Overall, I 1,000% recommend camping at this park. We will definitely be coming back and are so grateful for the incredible memories so far!

The weekend was a very good time. The park was clean. The only thing I did not like was the bathrooms where closed.

Campground was well kept and facilities were clean. The boardwalk is STILL not fixed. The worst and most stupid part of my experience is that I wasn't allowed to "check in" until 2:00 PM even though the site was already cleaned and had no one on it the prior night. I understand you can't have people on a site until it is cleaned up. The NPC's working the front gate preferred to exercise power over logic at the expense of the guests. I will never come to this site again and will instead book at the other sites in the forest for this reason alone.

I cant think of a thing that was wrong. Id say it was kind of perfect. There were few campers there so we had nearly the entire area to explore. There was plenty of room for each campsite and the shower facilities were spotless.

ALL the shower facilities were secured within the campground areas. You had to leave your camp to go to the day use area to take a shower during its operating hours. I was told that they had to conserve water. I (and the other campers) PAID for the use of the shower facilities along with the other amenities at the campground, but were denied the use of the showers. Unacceptable!

We love this campground. The spring are a childhood favorite of mine and now my kids love it too! Crystal clear water. Great Old Florida vibe.

We had a nice stay at Alexander Spring Recreational Area. We stayed in a tent in spot 53. It had some shade and was close to the restrooms/showers. The Spring was very pretty and scenic, but unfortunately, the trail around the spring was closed. There is firewood and ice available at the main gate, which was convenient. We are runners and we ran some of the trails across the highway at Ocala National State Park. The trails are not technical. Overall, it was a relaxing stay. I didn't care much for the showers- the showers only stay on for 10 seconds at a time and you have keep pushing the button to turn it back on.. . . over and over and over again. How can anybody clean anything in 10 seconds?

I'm new to camping so I don't have much to compare this campground to but I had a good experience and would return. Check-in was simple and signage made it easy to find our campsite (53). Site was well equipped with bear-proof container, grill, picnic table, and fire pit. We decided not to use the grill as it was tucked pretty close to overhanging palms and looked like a fire hazard. We opted to cook over the fire pit instead which worked out fine for our needs. Proximity to the bathrooms was convenient and they were nice and clean. Loop D was a bit far from the springs and trails so we drove down because it was incredibly hot and we were lacking energy...otherwise, be prepared to walk quite a bit if you're in D and don't want to drive down. Only complaint was our disrespectful neighbors blasting music and partying well into the night. Not sure if there's night security patrolling the grounds but this group was going hard until about 2am. The second night they were very quiet so I'm wondering if somebody finally spoke to them the next day. The springs were packed with families and children on the weekend so we just swam to cool down, did a little snorkeling, and spent most of our time relaxing at our site.
