This was an extremely clean camp site. Staff had emptied the fire pit and swept/raked the ground before we arrived and the bathrooms were kept clean throughout our stay. Staff also drive around to check on things throughout the day. When we were setting up our tents and hammocks, we were told that my tarp needed to have tree straps or cardboard under the rope to be connected to the tree. We made it work, and knowing that they were making sure everyone was respectful to the trees/site but also providing alternative solutions was really appreciated. They did drive around periodically throughout the night, but it was unobtrusive. I felt safe and with the clean grounds, I would definitely be coming back here. I just wish there were more pictures of the different camp spots on the recreation.gov website so that one can choose which combo of trees, shade and open space ratio works best for their needs.

We have camped in Ocala before and just assumed all of the campgrounds have similar site setup, separated from other campers by forest/bushes, so you get some privacy at your campsite. Not is Salt Springs. Our site was on an open field with a bunch of other campers. Not the experience I would recommend. Bathrooms were filthy, the trail was not nearly as picturesque as in Juniper springs, for example. Would not recommend this campground.

Not impressed with Site 140. There was not a burn container, the food containers were full of ants. When I stated to the front that there was no burn container they told me to us site 141- this was very inconvenient as our stuff was on site 140. If we wanted to use it, we had to leave our stuff and carrier our chairs as well. While we were watching how all other campers were able to use their food containers and enjoy the fire ring, while hanging with family. I know there is no changing site, but there needs to be exceptions. maybe, just do not book out lot 140. We are locals to the spring, first time camping, and will do things different. It is pretty there, restrooms are very clean.
