The moment you turn right into the park you are greeted by the two camp hosts. Here you will learn you are wrong until you prove you are right. Since the hosts make the rules...you are wrong. I have never met "hosts" who are less worthy of the name. It is amazing how many times they told people they were breaking the rules when there were no rules against the action.
For example, a family that was due to leave that day went to the day use area at 10:00 am with plans to extend their stay awhile. They were kicked out because it was for registered guests only...while true as of noon they were no longer registered...it is a technicality that could go either way. For a family that just followed every other rule, why should they be kicked out like trespassers just because they packed up their tents and headed to day use.
We drove two vehicles to the site as we had five people and a lot of equipment. My son pulled in first and stopped to talk to the host. He gave our site number and responded with the right last name. The host said he couldn't go to the site. He did nothing wrong other than being a 19 year old checking in on behalf of his family. Little did she know, but he hopes to be a lawyer and pressed the case with confidence and respect. She begrudgingly let him park at the site but said she wouldn't the next time.
Later that night (9PM) a camper in the site next to us had a fire which was against the rules. Apparently it was past the "hosts" bedtime so they never did anything about it. The one thing they should have done to make the dry forest safer...they didn't do.
PGE, please reconsider the hosts you have. Their attitude is all about the power rather than enjoyment or protection.
