Cons: Too many deep potholes in the campground road. Too few birds. Did they migrate? Or don't they live in such a mono-agricultural environment? The drive in from town--the road's dangerously narrow. Especially for anyone towing a travel trailer or fifth wheel camper. The lack of plenty of pumped water was a shock. I saw the water spigot marked on the campground map before we set out for the site, and as a result I did not fill our camper's water supply before we arrived. That was not an expected outcome. There should be more power for the solar pumped well. And the spigot should have a 3/4 inch hose adapter on it. Or it should be made plain ahead of time that there is no water to fill a camper. The Vault toilets had terrible smells filling the air around and in the adjacent two or three campsites on both sides of them. The signs and rules discussing campfires in and around the campground were conflicting and ridiculous. We had no clue whether fires were forbidden everywhere, or if they were allowed within the campground, or they were only forbidden in dispersed camping. Only Upon Our departure did we run into the campground host who explained that we could have had a campfire every night. Thinking campfires were completely forbidden, we avoided them. And that was a big disappointment for everyone in our party.Pros: Beautiful deep forests of tall trees. Pacific Banana Slugs were COOL! Nice and quiet. Few campers present (it was the last week the park was open for the season). LOTS of hiking trails near beautiful rivers. Wonderful American Dippers and Vaux's Swifts and Red-breasted Sapsuckers. Excellent thick moss. Great signs explaining the historical impact of humans on Nature around us.

Sites are very nice with space between each unit. Much to our surprise, there is a water pump for potable water which made a huge difference. Definitely would recommend this campground.

Excellent campground overall - very clean and well-kept, with beautiful sites. The campground host/workers were pleasant and helpful. There are some trails leaving from the campground that were really beautiful forest walks as well. I'm just deducting 2 stars from this review because the water was turned off for our stay.

Campsites well spaced so they feel very private. Very quiet on our midweek visit. Several nice trails close by. New bear proof food safes at every site. Wild huckleberries were in profusion end of July.

We love Middle Fork, so much great hiking right out of the campground. We sometimes wish the road was still bad; there’s so many people up there the last few years.
