We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beckler River Campground. The campground itself was clean (even the bathrooms!), the campsite was fairly private and the area itself provides opportunities for some amazing hikes to beautiful lakes and waterfalls. The only downside was that water was temporarily unavailable at the campground:(
This is a nice campground not too far off of route 2 but also far enough away that traffic is relatively light and you feel like you're out in the wilderness. The campground is easy to find, with a prominent sign on the right side as you drive up Beckler Road. There is a gate, but it doesn't seem to ever be closed, so you can get in and out at any hour. The campground is a single loop, so easy to find your site. Each site is appreciably sequestered to give you privacy, especially since you have to back your car into the space. Some sites (the higher number ones farther in) are shadier if that matters to you. Tent sites have a raised sand bed for the tent; the sand is reasonably compacted and should be good enough to hold stakes unless winds are excessive. A few standard pit toilets. As others have noted, water is not available here, so make sure to bring your own. Noise levels are quiet - minimal traffic on the adjacent road, and everyone followed quiet hours to a T.
I was using this campground as a base for day hikes in the surrounding area, but most people seemed to just be doing chill outdoor trips - a lot of RVs. One weird thing I noticed was that there were a lot of missed reservations (vacant spots that had been reserved for those dates) - not sure if it was the burn ban or maybe the weather (went from a heat wave to a day or two of sub-60 overcast days). Despite the typical warnings about bears, there clearly is no issue with bears - the trash bins were all overflowing with trash piled up outside when I got in (a Monday; trash day is evidently Tuesday). No apparent scavengers (crows, raccoons, squirrels, etc.) either. One thing to know is that you pretty much have to drive if you want to do anything else except hang out in the river - there are no close access points for hikes, etc., although you could explore some of the random forest roads if you walk down the road a short ways.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
