The campground deserves and excellent rating and would have gotten it from me if my campsite were not rented to someone else while we were on a hike. We were hiking during the day and returned at night to find someone in our site. I approached him to let him know this was our site and we had it reserved for two nights. He told me he showed up that day and reserved the site and showed me his name on the sign. I went to the camp host to straighten this out as I had an email to prove I had this reserved for two nights. He was quick to let me know that it is clearly marked on an 8.5" x 11 "piece of paper on the campgrounds 5' x 10' bulletin board that you must occupy the site at all times during your stay. It goes on to explain that you must leave a belonging of yours at the campsite at all times during your stay to prove you are still there. After a long day of hiking, I was in no mood to hear the my camp site has been usurped. The host explained that sometimes guests leave early and they have the right to lease the site to a walk on as a first come first serve. This was very upsetting to me. In the end, he offered to let me stay at the day use site "at no additional charge" which was right beside the site I had paid for. I am not proud of the language I used to display my displeasure in what went down but feel this could have been avoided if it had been better communicated than a small message on a large bulletin board that I had no intention of looking at because I had no reason to as far as I knew. I see no mention of this rule even on this website where I initially reserved the site. A very important rule to know but very obscure. In the end, it all worked out and I am glad it did. It just as easily could not have worked out if someone else was already moved to the day use site. I believe more effort should be put out to inform guests of the rule to avoid future confusion because other than that, it is a wonderful campground. Whew, done, thank you.
Philip, the host, was very helpful and does a great job to keep the place clean and in order. Keep up with the great work! Attention, no phone service and the river is not swimmable !
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
