Well run, clean, quiet neighbors, all you can ask for in a campground!

This place is absolutely amazing! Being by the river and hearing the water flow definitely is peaceful. What truly makes it a special place is the host Ron. He is sooo welcoming, and there for you if you need anything or have a question! Don’t forget the extremely clean bathrooms! He is the reason we went back multiple times after our first visit this year, and plan to go back again before the year closes. Douglas Fir is an amazing campground, but Ron is what makes it stand out as the best in Washington. PLEASE BRING RON BACK TO DOUGLAS FIR NEXT YEAR!!

Beautiful view of the roaring glaciated North Fork Nooksack River past our picnic table.
Even though the highway (WA 542) was nearby on a bridge, the river drowned out most vehicle noise.
The cleanest and best-smelling outhouse/privy I have ever experienced in a campground.
Big old-growth forest trees (including Douglas firs).
The campground host was nice.
Also nice neighbors.
A short trail under the highway bridge leads to the Horseshoe Bend trailhead.
Historic CCC 1930s picnic shelter and stairs.

We loved our spot right by the river!! We were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the water rushing by. The nearby hikes were nice. We were early in the summer and many trails closed but we found this beautiful spot to be very relaxing and not too bad of a drive up to the ski area for a look around. Close enough for a day trip to a county park at Silver Lake for a relaxing afternoon of kayaking and enjoying the sun. Vault toilets were kept uber-clean and never smelled bad. Kudos to the camp host!!

Nice old-frowth forest..well-maintained campground. The campground is small and most sites are small but we’ll suited for smaller trailers/rv’s or
Tents. We fit fine and loved being so close to the Nooksack river and the Horseshoe bend trail. We really enjoyed the hike too.
