I did not enjoy my stay at Horseshoe Cove. The site was huge; the parking spot for the car was high above the site, and the picnic table/fire ring was a distance from the tent spot, which made it quite inaccessible. The skinny trees provided little shade, and by mid-morning, the site was hot with no shady spots to escape to. My site was right on the lake, near the boat launch. It was really noisy all day. The bank of the lake was packed with campers and day use visitors every day, and by the afternoon, there wasnt room to stake out a spot to sit without being in someone elses space. Campers were rowdy and loud from 8:00 AM to after midnight. Quiet hours were not observed or enforced. The first two nights, a party was just getting started on the beach in front of my site at 10:00 PM with music cranked up and people shouting, laughing and drinking until after midnight. The next two nights, a group of men used my site to access the beach, being exceptionally noisy, until nearly 1:00 AM. The last night, from what I could tell, they went through the campground slamming down lids of the metal dumpsters and then running out to the beach through my site. I tried turning on my cell phone light so they would realize the site was not a path, but they just laughed about being quiet and continued to use my site all night. For a gal camping on her own, it did not feel at all safe, and I was nervous to make my way to the vault toilets by myself in the dark, more afraid of running into the campers than potential wildlife. I redeemed the experience by going on hikes or retreating to Sedro-Wooley during the day and suffered through the nights; there wasnt an available campsite anywhere or I would have left early.

This campground was perfect for our 18-month-old. He loved getting into the water in the safe swim area and enjoyed the nature surrounding us. We had a great time, too. We paddled out a bit to take a peek at the mountains and it was gorgeous. There are mosquitoes at the campsites at breakfast and then again from dinner to bedtime. No mosquitoes by the water though.
