Great park - just wished it wasn't foggy the two days we were there......Camp spot and bathrooms were awesome!

With no notice prior to our arrival, our site was switched due to safety reasons to another site that was totally inappropriate for the length of our RV and would have been impossible to level. This same site situation happened to the party we were traveling with and they wound up in a loop furthest away from our relocated site. On site park personnel were of no assistance and uncooperative because there were other suitable sites we found that were not reserved or occupied but the park representative said they were not available. Also, the dump station at this campground was shut down. We had no alternative but to find other campsites at a national forest campground some distance outside of the national park. Cougar Rock campground in My Rainier National Park is a poorly maintained facility manned by a poorly trained staff.

The campsite we reserved had been closed due to dangerous trees but we were not notified in advance to our arrival of the change. Either the site was not tagged upon our arrival, or we did not notice the sign, or the sign was posted after we set up camp, either way, we did set up camp and a park ranger even drove by and waived at us as we were sitting around the camp fire. At 6:00 am the following morning, we were awoken by a loud female voice yelling at us that we had to move to a different location. It was one of the camp hosts and she told us to check with the ranger station to find out where we were supposed to move to. From that point on, we were harassed by the camp hosts at our new location. Training should be provided to your camp hosts to include harassment. This was my second camping trip to Mt Rainier and it will be my last because of our experience at Cougar Rock.
