I was lucky to snag this spot in the late evening when it was on a first come, first served basis. The site is small, as the tent pad had enough space to fit my 2-person tent comfortably but that was it. Any larger of a tent could be an issue as there's this random log that's standing up-right on the site so that cuts off part of the available surface area. Maybe if the 4-person tent faced the cars, then that could work to get in/out of the tent. In addition, there are about 3 steps up from the car area to the tent pad. The restrooms are close, but not super close as the closest one is in Loop C. Other than that, the spot was great! The pictures make the driveway look big, but I would say it could fit a 4Runner from a length standpoint before parts of the car start sticking out into the road.

Great location and close proximity to a number of hiking trails! There are some campsites better that others. We had B 031 and the car parking spot was super uneven so we had to use blocks to even it out. There was a spot across from us that was reserved for several days but no one showed up until our last day. I wished we could have parked there as the driveway way super flat. It would bd great to know if a slot wasnt going to be used. The cost us very reasonable so , I suspect the campsites reserved but unused were under utilized. I loved the experience though!!

My biggest reason for giving a 5 Star review is simply because there were National Park employees in the campground. Over the last several years I have seen this type of customer service erode to a total lack of presence in our National Parks. The ranger we spoke with filled us in on how to get a first come first serve site the following day. Simple info to pass along first hand, but almost impossible to find online. Also, props to the govt for hosting their own reservation service with no fees. Wish State Parks would do the same thing!

Mount Rainier is a wonderful place to visit. Lots of hikes and beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, when anything needs repair, it is a long time coming. The RV dump station at Cougar Rock Campground is on its 2nd year of being nonoperational. There were no operational comfort stations (rest/washrooms) in loop B. The path from Loop B to the Loop C comfort station is blocked by downfall and you have to encroach into someone else's campsite to go to the bathroom. Park Rangers, get these things fixed!

please spend the money and time to remove all the hazard trees. that would open 50 more sites and stop 40 people every am from asking if you are checking out today.

Generator use at Cougar Rock has gotten out of hand. The hours are too liberal and are not enforced.
