Campsites are very wide and long. Plenty of room to spread out unlike other campgrounds where the sites are on top of each other.

We arrived on Sunday, 6/11/23 at Ray Behrens Deer run site #6 and it had rained that morning, leaving our site #6 muddy due to the lack of gravel. Also the blacktop pad to crack away at the edges due to the gravel is not even with the pad. There is big chunks of the blacktop laying around the site. My husband had to be careful not to back the trailer off the pad as the drop off is about 4. We stayed on #7 last year and it has the same problem lack of gravel and pad breaking away at the edges. I left a note about on my reservation card # I turned in, but nothing was done. Also there is a water spigot on the loop to the right is leaking! It is probably, leaking a gallon of water every ten minutes! What a waste of water when the state of Missouri is in a drought! I know the rangers drive around all the time and have seen it! My question is why isnt it being repaired.Why are they not replacing the restroom they tore down! The photos look real nice, but it would be even nicer if construction of these would have been done before the camping season began! Just looks like the Corp of Engineers are not on the top of their game!

Nice grounds. Plenty of room between campsites. Quiet and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Will definitely be back.

Staff was very nice. We did get hounded within 15 mins of arriving at our spot to put our ticket on the post which was annoying. Our spot looked much different in person than online. It had a big drainage type ditch running through it & with the rain before we came & once while we were there our spot was very soggy & wet the entire time & a lot of crumbling asphalt from our driveway from the water drainage right there. My family & I used to camp there a lot when I was growing up but it's been 15-20 yrs & I was disappointed that the bathrooms hadn't been spruced up at all in that time. They were very dirty & full of bugs as if it hadn't been cleaned in months & the bathrooms were running low on toilet paper. The campground seems to cater to campers now & not tents so it seems like the bathrooms have just been let go. The campground itself has been kept up nicely. I like the new picnic tables vs. the old wood ones. I wish the boat ramp was monitored the way the campground is because we kept dealing with people fishing right at the boat ramp when there is clear signs that fishing right there is prohibited.

We always have a great time at Ray BehrensThi time the ground was very wet. Lots of Rain before we camped, our pad had a large drop to the ground site 006.We will be back this weekend to camp at 033 hope for better time.
