Beautiful sites and friendly fellow campers.

Poor directional signage, needs fixed/installed. Shower house outdated and worn, but clean. Spacious sites, but not level.

Mixed feelings about this trip. As I told my wife- Cons: Campground is 200 miles from Kansas City. 20 miles from nearest town (food, fuel). Campgrounds are located several miles east of 24 Hwy on county roads. Long winding drive, tho roads are good. No TV service. Cell phone signal & hot spot for internet (AT&T) good to poor (on weekends when more campers around). Nothing to do unless you fish &/or have a boat. Photos don't show how level a campsite is. Some sites are down off the road, others like ours have big slope up from road to back of site. Nose of our 5th wheel was more than 6' in the air to get it level front to back. Pros: Lots of full hookup sites. Unusual for a COE campground. All electric is 50 amp. Campsites are spaced far apart, Lots of trees, shade not an issue. Very quiet at night, especially during the week. Don't hear anything. Total silence. Cheap camping if you have a Senior Pass, saving 50% off regular fee. We stayed for 15 nites, camped with family in another 5th wheel. Again, nothing to do so you go to bed early and sleep late. Marina "restaurant" is closest place to get a meal. Basically just burgers & sandwiches. Nothing special & not cheap. My choice, but I used the bathhouse daily. Not fancy, it's clean and perpetually wet . Maintenance guy covers the toilet paper up, then sprays everything from the ceiling down with a garden hose & nozzle. Walls usually wet and never saw the floor dry in 2 weeks due to no air circulation. I prefer the way MO state parks are cared for. Bottom line: I have no plans to go back. Other folks rave and swoon over this park. I'm not a fan. 60 miles to Hannibal. One way. If I want to do stuff in Hannibal, I'll stay at a campground in Hannibal. Save fuel and drive time going back and forth from Indian Creek. We've been camping since the mid-80's. Seen a lot of campgrounds. What I've written on this one is just my opinion. This was our 1st time here. Don't intend to have a 2nd one.
