We camp at Dewayne Hayes about 6 times a year. We like it a lot. Except the grass is not cut often enough it was at least halfway up to your knees in some places. They did cut it two days before we left. When we went in Feb. I went to one of the bathhouses and there was a man in the womens bathroom. I reported it to one of the park hosts but all they could tell me was that they would have to let the park rangers know the next day. I felt like they didnt want to be bothered with it. Im sure they would have felt differently if a small child had gone in to the bathroom with a man in there. The park ranger did call my husband at work the next day but never came to talk to me at all and I was at our campsite all day long. Just a very scary situation all the way around.

Dewayne Hayes is our go to campground. The campground and facilities are well kept and always clean. They have beautiful walking trails, several playgrounds for the kids and picnic spots by the water (in day use area).

We very much enjoyed our recent visit to Dwayne Hayes COE location. The location is very nice and clean and the shower house was wonderful!

Dwayne Hayes is a beautiful facility. All the campsites and facilities are well kept. The bathrooms are always clean and the camp hosts are very kind.

Enjoyed our visit to Site 64. The campground is located on basically flat ground along the waterway with many trees, good shade and some animal life. The level concrete site pads make setup easy. Sites are well spaced with plenty of room. There are many amenities in the campground, but they don’t appear to be utilized by the guests much. Many extra parking places. Boat ramp within the campground. The bathhouses are typical of COE and well maintained. The hosts are pleasant, present, and efficient without being overly distracting. We stayed at several COE campgrounds next to waterways and enjoyed watching the boat traffic and barges but here the vegetation along the bank obstructs the view of the water except for only a few sites.

The gate host and park host are very friendly and helpful. The camping spots need work with trees and bushes being trimmed and grass and leaves being mowed. I will help with a work day.

Very beautiful park and well taken care of. Staff were very nice and helpful. Must reserve online, no walkup allowed. Make sure you are back by 10 pm or you will be locked outside.
