Nice quiet campground. We stopped by on our way to Florida and it was an excellent spot to spend a night. Most spots are level and we did not even have to unhook.

We had a great time. We stayed in site 25. It was clean. The only down fall about it the limbs needs to be cut. A limb hit our air conditioner while we were backing up in the site# 25. Also it would be great if all site were full hook ups. Yall would be booked up every weekend if yall had full hook ups. We definitely would be there more. Thanks for a good time. We will be back.

I had a wonderful time! Be sure and use your America the Beautiful Senior pass, if you have one. Half price!!Don't miss walking on the paved trail through the back of the campground; it's wonderful, especially when you have it all to yourself, as I did. Tall trees; backwaters. There are signs for the trail on the main road through the campground. Also the paved trail through the huge picnic area is nice; it leads to a yard swing which needs oiling badly, but which looks over the water. In general, this campground was extremely well designed and extremely well built. The concrete sites are level; there are level tent spaces; several restrooms. Everything was just very well thought out. There are also some hike in [short hike] tent sites, and a few of those are on the water. Some are pretty close together, but there are a few with more privacy. The restrooms were very clean. It seemed that practically no one was using them when I was there. Seemed to be better than the usual showers. No paper towels, I think because of COVID.There are some very nice sites on the water and some in the woods. What I like best are the large sites which give you more privacy, and there are a number of them. This is a good time of year to go because there are fewer campers, so you have more space. The other campers were very friendly.Very, very nice big trees, lots of deer tracks [and I saw four deer running through the woods next to the river] and squirrels and birds. There were so many small acorns on the ground that went pop! when you stepped on them. Some beautiful weather at this time of year with no bugs and low humidity. The blue skies are wonderful, but so are the overcast skies. The nights can be cold, but if you have a heater, you're all set... or you can just bundle up.There are very nice hiking opportunities at Plymouth Bluff west of Columbus: https://www.muw.edu/plymouthbluff/trails Plymouth Bluff is about 15 miles from Dewayne Hayes. Google can direct you.

The camp host at this location was wonderful! Its a nice park but make sure you make the reservation ahead of time, there is no cell service and they will not let you in the gate without a online reservation! Also traveling in the dark the campground is out in the woods and the signs are horrible to see, so please pay attention or you will end up going down the wrong road!

This was our second visit and we will return again. Camp sites are large with good privacy and we were right next to the river. The cement pad was great and fairly level. The park is well maintained and it is one of our favorite stops. We highly recommend DeWayne Hayes.

Hosts are always friendly and helpful. One of the most scenic and spacious COE parks. Lots of shade trees. Campgrounds are kept clean and well maintained. A previous reviewer said the gates are not open until 8 AM but there is a one way traffic spike exit open 24/7. I prefer having the entrance gates closed at 10 PM for security reasons.
