Absolutely love this camp ground just wish they would do a little more up keep ! The bathroom showers could use an overhaul or at least some shower heads that work properly !

Upon 7:00 pm arrival, tent campers set up in our reserved spot, even though all the the other camp sites on that row were vacant. Unable to reach park ranger. Spoke to resident county sheriff, he found use a spot and was very helpful. Next day ranger called back and took care of situation. Camp host showed up next morning, not identifying him self, and said you can not be here. I explained park ranger is aware of us being here. He than said, in a rude voice, OK I will tell the ranger. Side not site 52 Hernando point still needs to have spigot fixed from hard freeze.

The only complaint is the water spiked was split on top and bottom. Called office and was told all maintenance people on vacation, wrapped it as good as possible.

We love to camp at Hernando Point! It is close to home and a quick weekend getaway. We know we are spoiled by full hookups! Site 52 is one of our favorite sites. It is in the back loop so very quiet. The site itself is very level with a nice concrete pad off of the camper. The trees provided great shade throughout the day and we can see the lake behind us through the trees. The restroom and bathhouse are relatively close and clean. I highly recommend this campground!

We were on site 52. The fire pit had a broken Tequila bottle in it along with several broken beer bottles & crushed beer cans. There were broken beer bottles around the outside of the fire pit & around the picnic table. There was trash on the site. There were more beer bottles, another Tequila bottle & trash in the woods behind the site. There were sheet metal screws on the pad. My wife & I picked up 1 1/2 bags of trash before we even started setting up. The fire pit smelled like urine. The bath house was dirty and in need of some upgrade (shower curtains, fix broken tile, unclog drains, etc.). At some point prior to our arrival someone had been eating ribs and throwing the bones on the ground. Our dog (9.7 lbs, 17 years old) found one and got it stuck in her esophagus and we had to rush her to our Vet. (Fortunately we live 30 minutes from Hernando Point so our Vet is near by.) One $1300 + operation & medication later she's fine. Why didn't we tell the Camp Ground Host? Who knows where or who they were? We've camped at a number of Army COE camp grounds, state & national parks & a host has always come by, introduced themselves, checked on us, asked if everything was OK, etc. We always seen a trailer with a sign indicating this is where the host lives. Not at Hernando Point. If the host came by they never let us know who they were & we were unable to find a trailer with the host sign in front of it.We've stayed there a few times in the past (before the renovation & tornado) & always enjoyed it. We were anxious for it to reopen this past June. We'd go down every 3 or 4 months to check on the progress. It sure has changed. Unfortunately for the worse.
