The campground was easy to navigate, clean, and use instructions were clear. The vault toilets were well maintained and the ones we used were not unfriendly experiences. While there we noticed people actively cleaning the campground so I'm sure this quality experience did not happen by accident. The bike trail was accessible near by, the beach was pleasant, and we enjoyed the museum nearby as well. The space between campsites was adequate to feel like a true camping experience. The stars were lovely to see at night and town wasn't far away which made for a nice hearty breakfast one morning. Wildlife was also active as we got to see a porcupine and had a fisher visit our campground (paw print evidence on the car by morning). I'd recommend this family friendly campground to anyone prepared to go without flush toilets and sinks and enjoy a bit more outdoors than campgrounds closer to urban centers can offer.

It was Beautiful! The ground was flat and perfect for testing. A few things to be aware of before you go: it echos throughout camp and can get noisy around morning, and there is a poison oak at the edge of most sites. Besides that, it was a great time. Wood bundles were sold on site and the camp excepted Venmo which was nice. Each site also had a fire pit with a grate for cooking. Easy access to the beach made for Beautiful sunsets. Plus you are 10 minutes or so from the dunes and 5 minutes from downtown Glen Arbor.

Don't let the fact this is a primitive campground scare you away. Location is everything.
You are only steps away from one of the best beaches in Michigan and there are very few mosquitoes due to the soil drainage.
D.H. Day is also within walking distance from Glen Arbor along the paved trail.
Fresh water is readily available from faucets located throughout the campsite.
The pit toilets are also clean and plentiful at D.H. Day.
If you need a shower, simply drive down to the Platte River Campground.
