Wonderfully quiet campground.

Site 85 was more secluded than most. This was a great staging area to hit a bunch of local hikes - a great weekend.

Site was secluded and beach on Lake Michigan was awesome. Location is near many other locations and Glen Arbor is near for any needs. Staff were attentive and accessible.

Ive been camping here for 9 years and it used to be my favorite place to camp. Now its turned into a typical government operation. The price has increased so now its overpriced given the rustic facilities (stinky vault toilets and extremely slow water spigots). You now have to make a reservation (which requires planning 6 months in advance) and you still have to check in at the office when you arrive (repetitive and inconvenient since all your information is given online when you make the reservation). You can no longer buy real firewood in the campground (they only have a machine for sawdust blocks that dont burn well at all and the machine was out of order for half our stay. I ended up buying a saw at the local hardware store so I could cut my own wood - downed and dead of course). There is also poison ivy everywhere and the rangers spend more time chatting with each other than helping guests. Also two years ago our (6 month in advance reservation) was cancelled two weeks before our trip. We were not offered any consolation or other accommodations or sorry for the inconvenience, just refunded and left without a place to stay. We managed to find a couple sites to book so we could still come to this beautiful place. However after this most recent stay I can say I will likely not be back. There are far more welcoming and accommodating campgrounds that I would rather support, and plenty of other beautiful places in this country.
