First of all, while D.H. Day has more than 80 campsites, it is, even when full, very quiet. Second of all, the staff there is amazing: friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. And lastly, it's Lake Michigan!

Sleeping Bear Dunes has great hiking trails throughout. We have several favorite beaches there--try them all. Save a few hours for wandering through the shops and restaurants in Glen Arbor. Unfortunately, some of our campground neighbors arrived in the middle of the night with a very noisy RV and couldn't figure out how to back it into their site so they came up into our site and walked around, flashlight in hand. Kept us awake for quite some time. This was our only complaint about our experience.

Overall, the campground was nice. The site we had provided plenty of space for us, it was nicely shaded and close to the water and vault toilets. The toilets were clean but were a bit smelly and needed to be pumped out because it was towards the end of the season. My one big complaint is the lack of a shower house. We want to come back and stay longer, but tent camping for more than 2 or 3 days without access to a shower is tough. Cleaning myself in Lake Michigan also seems like a bad idea. Speaking of Lake Michigan, the campground's beach is great! Install a shower house or two on site and you'd get a 10 from me next time.

I had site 87 and it was on an incline and then the firepit was on another incline. Luckily my camper was small but this site is wouldn't be good for a large camper. It would of been better as just a tent site.

Also, there are no modern bathrooms or showers in the campsite and sites are pretty close. But that is to be expected at a popular campground. The location is so great though! You are close to everything!

This was our first camping experience at DH Day and we loved it. Our site was large, the nearby trees were mature, much of the ground was covered in pine needles and the other campers were fun and respectful of others’ property and space. The campground is a short stroll to the beach and made for cool autumn star gazing. Another short trail led to Glen Harbor where the old cannery still stands. The town of Glen Arbor is less than 5 minutes by car which makes DH Day almost the perfect campground, but _nothing_ is perfect.

We will return and recommend this campground.
