The campground is the best I have ever stayed at in the US. If visitors are at the campground, the staff do an excellent job of handing out information and making sure everyone has a parking pass. However, many visitors who are not at the campground do not know there is a visitors center or have accessed information needed for their visit in the SBD's. The two sites on the internet, Top Ten Tips for Visiting the SBD's and Plan Your Visit to the Sleeping Bear Dunes are excellent. We have been visiting the SBD's for almost 47 years. In the past you would always see full time staff at various locations who were helpful. Unfortunately, with all the staff and budget cuts, having the necessary staff is not available. An example is the lack of staffing at the Dune Climb.

Platte River campground was great for our family. The sites were spacious and well separated, quiet and peaceful. The staff at check-in were incredibly helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Our favorite campground! The sites are so large, well maintained and semi-private. The shower houses and surrounding area is kept clean and beautiful. The trails are also within walking distance and kept cleared.

If you are in a tent be prepared to hear air conditioners running all night in the RVs around you. Well maintained park.

The campground was very quiet when we visited at the end of May. The sites are well spaced and do give some privacy. The bathrooms are clean, and they offer a separate washroom to do dishes. There is a nice trail that leads to Lake Michigan called the Railroad Grade Trail. We saw very few people on the trail, and it ends at a quiet beach on the lake. We would definitely camp here again.

This far and away the finest campgound in the NPS system. The sites are well spaced out and they are all paved. The bathrooms are always clean and well maintained.

Lovely campground. The sites are large and private and everything was kept very clean. The rangers weren't terribly friendly and patrol the camp sites carefully so make sure you don't leave anything out if you're not there. We were issued written warnings the past two years we camped there for leaving a cooler out next to the trailer. It's also not walking distance to the beach so be prepared to drive it you expect to spend time on the beach. All in all a nice campground
