Large lots with fire pits and picnic tables. Newly paved roads and back in drive in areas for trailers, etc. a big improvement from 2 years ago.

Campsites are kind of right on top of each other. If u want to be secluded from other people I wouldn’t suggest this campsite. Someone ended up walking right in front of our tent in the morning. Thought that was kind of weird.

This was one of the best campgrounds we have ever used! It was clean and the campground was beautiful with lots of trees. There is a trail (RR trail) that starts behind the campground and leads to Lake Michigan. If you go to the right when you get to Lake Michigan, it is dog friendly. We only stayed one night but wished we had longer.
This is a beautiful campground with some of the largest campsites I've ever experienced. Quiet, dark at night with a stunning view of the stars, and easy access to the Platte River. The restrooms & showers are reasonably clean and the staff at the ranger station friendly and helpful.

We loved the lots at the campground. They were not one on top of another, but had space and foliage in between. During our stay, other campers were very quiet and courteous. No loud partying by drunks, for which we were very thankful. Access to kayak rentals and the Platte River couldn’t have been closer. We also appreciated that our campground pass got us free parking at the beach area at the end of Lake Michigan Road, at the Dune Climb for the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and into Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. The Lake Michigan Overlook (#10) on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a MUST, especially for sunsets!

Platte River Campground is well maintained and tidy, including thd bath houses. The area offers many exciting things to do, including hiking, canoeing/kayaking, river tubing, swimming, and bicycling. Pierce Stocking Trail, Empire Bluff, the Heritage multi-purpose trail and Glenn Haven are favorite destinations when we camp at the Platte.
Love floating down the Platte River into the beautiful Lake Michigan. Canoeing in Loon Lake.

Had a wonderful time. We chose to rent a Motorhome and travel with all our food and shelter because of the pandemic. Normally when we travel, we stay in hotels and eat at restaurants. We had fun going to see the Dune Climb. We were lucky to be able to take the Pierce Stocking Drive as it was limiting its days of being open due to the pandemic. The elevated views of the Dunes and Lake Michigan were fabulous. The Platte River area was also a wonderful experience. We saw a rare large group of Loons, probably migrating since it was late fall. Most of our trip we experienced the Fall Colors everywhere. We may try this trip again and plan it months it advance as this camp ground is always full in the peak season.

Mobile Data Speed Map

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
