Great campground! I stayed in Loop 4 (site 412) and it was really nice. Pads are paved and flat. I stayed in May and Loop 4 was not very full. The bathrooms are great and clean, with showers and a washing room for dishes. Would stay here again!

Good not great campground. Separate shower rooms and these were very clean. Dishwashing station but you have to park next to your site and walk in. With two vans, we were stuck in a parking pad next to one another and this made it very difficult for us to set up a camp where we could have a mutual common space.

Peterson Beach is a nice, remote beach that you can walk with your dog.

Beautiful area! Recommend visiting Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Petoskey State Park is the perfect base camp. Wilderness State Park is also a worthwhile trip.

This is in a great location with several nearby beaches, the Platte River, and Pierce Stocking scenic drive. Site 12 was clean, close to the bathroom, bordered on 2 sides by woods. The other border was angled so that tents were almost side to side with the neighbors lot and I was treated to the sound of their ridiculously loud snoring for the entire night on the 3rd night. I would go back but might try to book a site with a little more privacy next time. Bathrooms were amazingly clean with hot showers. Sunsets over Lake Michigan were phenomenal.

We stayed at primitive campsite loop 4 had to get seperate sites each night due to availability. Both sites we had was on inside loop. The campsites are right next to each other out tent was 15 ft from our neighbors. That was on both campsites we had. Could even hear neighbors whispering in their tent it was so close. Got woke up at 6 am by a garbage truck loudest one I ever heard must have had leaking air brake system or faulty valve on hydraulics. Better question is why a garbage truck was going through at 6 am. Made the mistake of buying so call firewood from dispenser inside the campground. It was basically compressed sawdust and wax would not burn for its life. Got firewood from Riverside next night. They had great firewood. The crap I bought in the campground would only burn when but on bed of hot coals from real wood. The dishwashing area only has one small shelf no real good place to set clean dishes once washed as it was dirty from dirty dishes from others. Need grated second shelf labeled clean dishes only. Light didnt turn on in dish wash room so had to prop door open to see. The second night kept hearing a car run all night as they must have been sleeping in their car to stay warm. Last thing I want to hear when tent camping is a car run all night. Outside Bathroom lights stayed on all night shinning into tent need to put lights on motion sensors. So they are not on all night. Only saving grace is location to platte river and beach. Also bathrooms are clean and had nice showers. Not exactly my idea of tent camping. Campground has basically turned into a RV campground. I have stayed at walk in campsites before which I enjoyed much more. But even though could be spread out more. They was not available this time as they only have a limited number. They need sites more spead out and need sitest farther from road as I could hear cars rolling down adjacent road throughout night

Beautiful camp ground and area! Such tall trees everywhere. We enjoyed swimming where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan.

Platte River Campground was one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've stayed in. The sites were large and felt private, ours was quite level. The bathroom/shower houses were well kept. My kids had a particularly good time participating in the Junior Ranger Program and then being sworn in at the ranger station. We cooked most of our meals at the campsite but did go out for a dinner at The Manitou restaurant. It was delicious and worth our rather long wait. Don't be like me, make a reservation. We also canoed the Platt River via The Honor Trading Post. There is a different company right outside the campground that would be more convenient. We've canoed as a family many times, but never in a crystal clear river. The trip was no comparison to others we've taken. The only thing that caught us by surprise while in Michigan was the weather. We went in late June and should have brought more layering pieces and pants rather than shorts. It was in the 40s two nights during our stay. Our family cannot wait to go back again but maybe a little later in the Summer next time.
