Well-maintained campground with a good amount of shade but sites are fairly close together with little foliage between sites. The tent pad and picnic table area are in addition to the stated driveway length so the sites feel very spacious. Be cautious when selecting a pull-through site as they have a significant bend in the driveway and trees along each side that make them more difficult to maneuver than a back-in site. Great access to Platte Lake and Lake Michigan for those with boats. Just a short drive to enjoy sunsets and the beach along Lake Michigan.

This is a very nice campground with very clean bathrooms and showers. Very nice hikes leave from the campground. We only did the hike to the lakeshore since we had a very rainy weekend but hope to return next year.

Rangers at check- in were quite friendly and helpful. The trails were well marked and it takes about 30 minutes to be on the beach. The facilities were clean and convenient. Will stay here again.

Such a beautiful area with plenty of water and dunes near by. The point that Platte River and Lake Michigan come together is a sight to see and swim

We enjoyed five wonderful days at the Platte River Campground, hiking, visiting with friends, and getting to know the area a bit better. The Empire Bluff trail led to a marvelous view of the lake with its shades of blue, green, and turquoise. We did a bit of shopping and had lunch in Glen Arbor. Others explored Empire and Frankfort (where there is a laundry - hooray!). We hope to return soon.

Every Fall for the past several years, my wife and I have camped two weeks at Platte. Whatever the weather, and/or colors, we always enjoy returning to the Sleeping Bear National Park. The scenery is beyond beautiful, especially such as the travel and views on the dunes by way of the Pierce Stocking Drive. Empire, Glen Haven, and Glen Arbor are just a few of the many quaint little towns to visit in the Leelanau peninsula. The Empire overlook, the Heritage Trail, Glen Lake, the Maritime Museum in Glen Haven, Cherry Republic and other Glen Arbor stores, Millers Hill, Insperation Pointe, Port Oneida, and Pyramid Pointe are just a few of the sights to see.

Very nice campground. Nice bathrooms and showers. Pretty quiet. Lot of space between sites. Good proximity to the rest of Sleeping Bear and Traverse City. Only cons are, no water connections and the ones they have are hard to get to. No sewer connections either, not an issue except there are only two dump stations for a huge park. With no sewer connections at campsites, these are over run.
