Have stayed many times at Platte River. It is our favorite campground in Michigan. We went to the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, Traverse City Boardman Lake trail, Elberta Marsh boardwalk in Frankfort and Arcadia Marsh in Arcadia.

Awesome experience camping at Platte River Campground! Lots to do, like hiking trails, scenic vehicle tour, and the Cherry Festival in Traverse City! Also, we appreciated that they had more than 1 fill up/dumping station in the park! Thank you for the wonderful stay-we will sure be back in the near future!

We love the wooded campsites. Hiking path right outside the site loops that leads to Lake Michigan. There are many species of birds right in the campground. The facilities were clean. Close to kayaking and biking. The towns of Empire, Glen Arbor, Beulah and Frankfort are a short drive away.

We love this campground. We stay in loop 4 which has no electric hook up. We are tent campers. We love the trees and the fact there are so many sites that seem so private. The bathroom and shower facilities were kept clean. There is a nice trail from the site loops to Lake Michigan. If you are a birder you can see many different species in the campground itself or in the wooded areas along the path. Kayaking is basically across the road from the entrance. There are so many great hikes in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. The campground is centered between Frankfort/Beulah and Empire. Glen Arbor is just a little bit farther north past Empire. We enjoy the biking, hiking, birding and kayaking opportunities that the area offers.

Great experience for a 3 day weekend. Loop 4 was not busy and quiet. Bathrooms were clean and showers hot. Weather great & no mosquitoes (yet).

We loved the Platte River campground on the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline! Beautiful campground, and the entire surrounding area was beautiful as well! The park is very well kept up and the bathrooms/shower houses are clean. We really enjoyed visiting Empire and Glen Arbor, shopping and dining. The sleeping bear dunes are a must see, and the beaches in this area are great! I really wish there were campgrounds like this in the thumb area.

We both got poison sumac from there at the campground. It was bad not sure if it was while walking to the bathroom or what. We didn’t go on any hikes. I just thought all of that and poison ivy would be killed out of there.
