Our visit to Platte River Campground couldn't have gone better. The staff were super friendly, the restrooms and showers were clean, and our site was in great shape when we arrived. We were able to find a range of activities for our family to do that were beautiful, peaceful, and at times educational. The only negative was the firewood at the campground was a little pricey and seemed a little wet.

Rangers were very helpful when we checked in. For biking the heritage trail was fantastic to see much of the Sleeping Bear area. The beaches were great everywhere. Going to where the Platte River empties into Lake Michigan was great. Next time we want to hike the trails in the Platte Plains more.

We were so impressed with the spaces between the hike in camping loop sites. We felt like we were having a private camping experience!. We were still close to the parking area where our car was - going to the car for gear was not a problem at all. Very convenient. We have had many campground camping experiences over the years, trust me when I say that I have never seen cleaner, better restroom and shower facilities!! The added bonus was that there are trails that lead you to Lake Michigan - a short hike of less than a mile took us to the sandy beaches and amazing views of the lake and landscape! Platte River Campground is a winner!!

This place is just the cleanest and nicest camp ground. And omg the weather was gorgeous. Also I feel like no one bothers us, it feels very secluded. beautiful hiking in fall. Fun water time in the summer. Second time. Always want to come back. I do not recommend the dune climb to anyone with a bad knee. And plan for several hours if you plan on doing it.
