This is our 4th trip up to Platte River and we love it more and more each time we go! Our favorite time to visit is after school starts, Sept-Oct time. (Less people). Hiking to the beach is a must and kayaking down the river is a blast! Thank you again for a wonderful trip!

Cannot recommend these walk-in sites enough! Beautiful area and exactly what we were looking for. There is a loop for parking where bathrooms, showers, and water are located as well. All walk-in sites jut out from the parking loop. Our site (B001) was the closest site to the parking lot of the "B" sites - about a 180-foot walk to the actual site. The farthest site was maybe triple that. The site itself is wonderful. Other campers are close enough so you can see them in the distance through the (heavily wooded) trees, but far enough where you feel like you have plenty of privacy. The parking lot was also visible in the distance through the trees from our site. The bear box is plenty large for your belongings, including midsize coolers. Bathroom facilities are kept clean. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was the 0.8-mile walk through the woods to Lake Michigan overlooking Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and the Manitou Islands in the distance. You practically have your own private beach that stretches for miles! Just breathtaking. Wishing your stay holds just as much joy and memories as ours did.

Great location, sites are spread apart. Besides the tent pads, most sites are not very flat.

Great campground. I stayed in one of the hike-in spots. There was ample parking, sites were large and well shaded and the bathroom area included showers. The sites were not totally secluded. I could see several other campers from my site but they were through the trees and not right next to me. Overall, a good bit of privacy. I did several hikes in the area and enjoyed my stay.
