Very nice campground. I've camped here several times, both in the regular sites and the walk-in sites. Really nice hiking trail to the big lake as well as a nice bike riding dirt road nearby.

Great experience. As a walk-in site, our spot was a long walk back with camping gear and no wheeled carts / similar allowed, so just a matter of accepting a little extra work for a great experience.

We used the walk-in campsite B8. It was a bit of a walk when you have to bring those brick fire woods, but it was well worth being on top of a small hill.

Beautiful setting, clean restrooms, mostly quiet, and a short hike to the beachfront.

The site was perfect for the remote experience we were looking for. Five minute walk to the bathroom, 15 minute walk to Lake Michigan, but completely surrounded by woods and very few sounds from other campers. The bathroom and shower building were clean and felt safe to use, and we especially appreciated the hot water in the dish-washing room! This site has a tent-pad big enough for two medium-sized tents side by side, and the eating area with a dedicated animal/bear box was appreciated and functional! During a busy season this site may be seen by others in the A loop, and you do have to walk by other B campsites which are right on the trail. But the site itself felt very isolated.

Bring bug spray! The campground itself was well maintained and conveniently located, and the walk-in (tent only) sites were as advertised. In our case, that meant a good 5-minute walk to/from the parking lot, up and down a curved and hilly footpath. Our site was picturesque on a wooded hilltop and spaced well away from other sites. But, oh man, those skeeters! The lower level areas in the campground are swampy breeding grounds for swarms and swarms of mosquitoswhich are active day and night. Ive never seen so many (and so aggressive) skeetersThey literally chased us up and down the footpaths. And that was AFTER spraying with a Deep Woods OFF. So while the campground has a lot to offer, the skeeter profusion was a big turnoff. We would not camp here again.

We absolutely love the walk-in sites. They are secluded enough that you don't feel like you are in the middle of a busy campground, but they are only a short walk to very well-maintained restrooms. We love utilizing the Platte River for paddle boarding, and the beach at Lake Michigan is a great place for kids to play.
