Site B04 walk-inBeautiful site! It is up a hill so the last 20 yards or so are a bit of a trek. Bathrooms were clean and close enough. Showers were also clean and easily accessible.Bear box is set down the hill but is very large for a single campsite. If you're going to the beaches be sure to check out the direction of the wind. If the wind is coming from the south any north facing beach will have biting flies. Try the east facing beaches where the Platt River comes into the lake or in Empire.Tubing down the Platt was a lot of fun!The Jr. Ranger Program is top notch and open to anyone from 0 to 110!AT&T and T-Mobile both had cell reception throughout the campground and most of the Lakeshore.

Very special place. Walk-in sites are beautiful, well-spaced and not crowded. Restrooms clean. Best fall camping experience ever.

We have camped in the walk-in sites for years and just love it. These sites are spread out in the woods, so there is a fair amount of privacy. You park your car in the lot and haul your stuff to your site, but you can also car camp with a tent or RV elsewhere in the campground. This place is usually full all summer long, so definitely make your reservations 6 mo out if you can. Its also nice to know that the bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. Theres a lovely hike from the walk-in sites to a nice secluded beach on Lake Michigan, and theres canoeing/kayaking/ tubing right down the road at the Riverside Canoe livery that has a store that has food, clothing, water toys, and other up north souvenirs. You may not want to buy your firewood from them, however; its usually pretty green. Stopping in Empire just a little north and buying it there at the local gas station is better. There are also some great hikes all over SBDNL.
