Platte River has been our favorite place to camp for over 40 years. We first camped at Platte River when it was a state park in 1980, and have been camping there for every year since. We camped when first married, with our kids for 20+ years, and now as empty nesters. We always camp in the walk-in sites and love having our own site, listening to the sounds of nature, and the clean bathrooms. Thank you for helping us create lifelong memories.

Attn: Dog Owners May- August you cannot take your dogs to 90% of the beach, trail and dune locations due to a endangered bird that is nesting. This came as a great surprise to us and we do wish the campground would post this on the website so people like us could have picked another campground. Now this would not be a big deal if you were able to leave your dog in a camper at the campsite but for tenters obviously that is not possible. So this drastically changed our trip. Its really a bummer because the campground is amazing. Great bathrooms, great hike in campsites with a lot of privacy and super close to Lake Michigan but we will not be coming back unless the bird thing is lifted.

What can I say. Clean, the DNR team helpful, located perfectly to spend time quiet and private. Excellent family experience. Will return.

LOVE our site! Not a far walk in, only one other site visible, and owl serenade every night. Bathrooms and showers are close and immaculate. Very convenient camp sink to wash dishes to prevent critter invasions of the site. Convenient firewood available at Riverside Canoe. We have a Tracfone (not a selection on cell phone provider in this survey) and we had no problems with service.
