Large, quiet, secluded back-in spot, adjacent to another large area with the picnic table and fire ring added to the secluded feel for our Class B motorcoach. The full hookups, especially the electric, really was a godsend for us to endure the heat and humidity. The dump station was bigger than most with dual lanes.

Ben was the only ranger with professional skills. Any attempt to muddle your way through the reservation process was never met over the phone! Great campground poor assistance.

The campground was very quiet, even when full. Bathrooms were clean .
Campground was a little farther from the main attractions than the Day campground, but appeared to be a little more wooded and scenic; great place to relax!
We were surprised there were very few bugs in early June; after our encounter with LOTS of mosquitoes in the UP.

Site was nice, but a bit cozy for our 10x10 tent and small screen tent.

Our visit was wonderful. The campsites and facilities were clean, the staff very helpful, check in was flawless and adjustments were made easily. We spent our days hiking on several of the trails. We enjoyed canoeing on the Platte River, the fish Weir was a nice surprise. We would have liked to bike the trail but the weather did not cooperate for that. It is a beautiful park.

The electric campsite we had was enormous and easy to utilize. They strictly enforce local firewood sales providing a handout with ten or so vendors listed. This is fine and we support the effort to contain pests, but there was an in-camp vending machine that would produce a box of manufactured firewood. This product was pure junk and is not suitable for a campfire. Use the local vendors!

Major Issues
@KennyH117 · Camped on Jun 17, 2021 at Campsite #207
I was disappointed on several areas this year.

The bathrooms did not seem to be cleaned as often as in the past.

Peterson Beach was closed to dogs this year. However, I was there in late June and there were 3 dogs on the beach during the day. An intern ranger scouting for plover went to each group,, but not a single dog left. Signs clearly said no dogs, but the ranger didn't, or didn't have the authority to kick them off the beach.

Shhh - don’t tell anyone about this place - it might become difficult to book. The best location and a clean and well maintained campground. We were here in late May before the “season” started and many others had the same thought to explore the area and enjoy the quiet before it gets busy with visitors. The walking trail to Lake Michigan was beautiful and an easy hike for any level (until you hit the sand/dunes where it is a bit more challenging walking through the sand). The view and the quiet on the shoreline... Sleeping Bear Dunedin the distance... bike riding, kayaking/canoeing, exploring the country roads - a treasure and moments that will not be forgotten.

The mosquito's were so bad we could not enjoy the beautiful park. We had a screen room and still could not sit outside. They were so bad while bike riding with the little kids we got bit up because they did not ride fast enough the mosquito's still got us.

Great site location. Could have been more level. Poison ivy always present but we were pleased and would like to return.
