My home-base campground! The hosts and rangers are always wonderful, other campers usually very respectful, sites well-kept and most are very private. We weren't able to hike or bike much this trip, due to the heat. And Otter Creek (Esch Rd) beach was super crowded, since it's the only beach dogs are able to hang out in at this time of year due to expanding Piping Plover nesting. But these are circumstantial events. Love this campground and SBDNL.

Very clean and quiet campground. Sites are secluded and good size. Very close to a great spot to launch kayaks and Lake Michigan is a bike ride or hike away. Good hiking trails, as well. We really enjoyed our stay, we were surprised that the non electric loop has actual restrooms and showers and the campground is close to a lot of outdoor adventures.

Enjoy this campground. Its one of my homes away from home. Feel safe and facilities are nice and much better than a regular rustic campground!! Most sites are pretty private, which is nice.

This campground is great as some sites are pretty private and there are modern facilities so not totally rustic. A lot of hiking, biking trails in the area and lots to see and do.

We camp at Platte River Campground several times a year. Its a great campground with a lot of choices as far as activities that are close by. The restrooms are extremely clean and campground is well kept. Feel very safe here, as well.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Platte River Campground. The National Park Service is one of America's greatest ideas (borrowing from Ken Burns) and this campground demonstrates our commitment to enjoying our natural resources. I stayed in the non-electric drive in campground (circle #4). All the sites are well designed with adequate space between other campers. Each site comes with a crushed limestone flat tent area, as well as a picnic table and fire pit. The bathrooms are clean and the garbage areas are well placed. The ranger star were very friendly and accommodating. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a beautiful area and I will be sure to camp here again.

The site was very clean. It was quite--Late May, not many tent campers. The bathrooms were nice. It would be nice if there was some weather reports for the following day or days.

I was in one of my favorite sites and the stay was great. Park staff are always friendly and willing to answer questions. The bathrooms are always clean. Most of the sites have some privacy and some have a double driveway, which is great if you gave more than 1 vehicle. Best campground in the Lower Peninsula in my opinion. Come here often as there is so much to do in the area as well. It doesnt get much better then this!!

My family comes up to this campground as often as we can. This time even though we had a decent time we were quite disturbed by our neighbors across the way who were extremely disrespectful with noise levels past curfew, garbage left in their campsite and food left out which we think caused a bear experience at our campsite 2 days later. I bring this up solely because I was shocked they hadn't been kicked out after the first warning. When other neighbors complained directly at them, these neighbors were using foul language and screaming to handle the situation. Moving forward I feel that less chances should be given to disrespectful rule breakers who ruin the experience for other campers.

Campsite 451 is at the end of loop 4, which is a very big and quiet campsite. The bathroom is clean and the shower water is hot. Make sure you put your food in your car, otherwise, raccoons will visit you frequently at night.

Since it was a little unseasonably cold, the campground was only about 1/3 full and that was great. The Pierce Stocking Scenic drive was much more enjoyable, too, because not as many people as normal. There’s so much to do in the area. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, are some of the fun things to do.
