Platte River Campground campsites are wooded and flat. They're nicely separated from each other, especially if you get one that doesn't back up to another campground loop. We stayed on site 218, which is adjacent to the railroad grade trail and is angled in such a way that it seemed like we didn't have neighbors at all. The bathhouse was clean and convenient. Water, recycling bins, and trash bins are conveniently located at multiple sites on the loop. Buy firewood from one of the local vendors and skip the compressed wood fiber "logs" from the campground vending machine (unless you want the vending machine experience).

We thoroughly enjoyed our first of two days at Platte River Campground, which is well maintained and provides a clean, and comfortable environment for spending quiet time in nature in a beautiful setting. However, there was some difficulty the second day when a loud party ensued on a nearby site which began during the day and continued into the early morning hours. When requesting assistance at the ranger station we were told nobody patrols the campground, she couldnt move us to a quieter site, and our only recourse was to call 911. She gave us the number to recreation.gov who did move us and sent us an apology later in response to our email telling them of the situation. Though we love the campground, we are a bit hesitant to rebook if assistance is not provided onsite in difficult situations such as this.

Large, well thought out sites give privacy. Most pads are level with easy access. Campground was quiet and bathrooms were clean. Showers are hot! Lots of hiking and places to explore.

Platte River Campground is a wonderful destination. The campground facilities are in great condition, clean, the staff is polite and helpful. From sitting on the beach at Platte River Pointe to kayaking the Platte River the area abounds with opportunity to enjoy nature. There are also little towns in the area to explore. Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Pierce Stocking Drive, Gwen Frostic Studio and Crystal Lake Alpaca farm are worth a look. The night sky is gorgeous!

The campsites were nicely spaced allowing privacy. I like the layout with the concrete pad in the front and the sand pad in the back with the firepit and picnic bench. There was a trail behind our site leading to the larger trail that went to the beach after a 1.0 Mile walk.

Beautiful campground. Easy in and out. Easy to find your spot. Booked online but still needed to go into ranger station to register.

I think its awful when they rent handicap sites to able people if I park in handicap I get a ticket . They need to go back to first come first serve too many sites empty seeing I had to move 4 times in I week but same empty site available for the whole week very disappointed after visiting for 47 years

The campground was quiet, very well kept up, and the checkin process was seamless. The water pressure at the fill station seemed a little low so there was a line that took some extra time to fill our water tank. Our campsite was great and the whole area had lots to offer and we will be back again!
