This campground is my families favorite campground. We stayed in the walk in tent sites and they are nice spots. We love that we can walk to lake michigan from our campsite. We always look forward to staying here every summer.

Walk-in sites were well located and spread out from one another + areas where campers/trailers are allowed allowing one to listen to the sounds of the outdoors. All facilities were well maintained.

Great campground. We loved the walk-in site, with the only other tent campers around us. Prepping gear for walking in ahead of time is important. The walk was pretty easy from the parking lot to our site. There is a trail to the beach that starts at the bathrooms. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Mosquitoes were pretty bad. Only negative point would be that we wish there was a warning about the iron man race when we reserved the campsite months ago. We had to be out of the campground by 8:30 am on Sunday to avoid being locked in until after 2pm.

We had a great visit at the walk-in sites. It was about a quarter mile + walk from the parking lot to site A5 where we stayed, and each site has a table and fire ring. Our site had it's own bear box which was great; most other sites share a box. The bathrooms were pretty clean, and it was lovely being in such a wooded setting. The only complaints were that the group next to us was very noisy far past quiet hours (after 12am two nights in a row) and the hot water went out part way through our stay (life happens!). Expect to hear owls loud and clear at 4am too :) There is a convenience store right around the corner from the campground which is super convenient. They've got most supplies you'd need in case you forgot something or need to restock. They also have kayak, canoe, and tubing rentals for the river. We opted for no-time-limit kayaking on the lower portion of the river and had a blast. It is very easy water, and we saw lots of wildlife (scarlet tanager, river otter, muskrat, and lots of turtles). There are also hiking options nearby. We'll definitely plan to come again!

My daughter and I tent camped for one night on our way back from a trip up north. The site was super clean and spacious. Just about a mile hike to Lake Michigan where there was a fabulous beach area with very few people and views of the dunes. I am so glad there was one site left during our travel time. We will definitely return for a longer stay!

The campsite itself had everything we needed and the sites are spaced out pretty well. Bathrooms and showers are nice. There is a great hiking path that takes you to a private, sandy beach on Lake Michigan, which is a hidden gem -- very few people out there. We took the two and a half hour kayak tour, which we really enjoyed, although it was extremely crowded.
