This is a quintessential campground. I loved the entrance --- a deeply wooded narrow dirt road which goes to the Day Use Area. From here you turn and continue down a dirt road which curves around. It just looks so much what a campground should look like. At the end of the campground the road circles around a vault toilet making it easy to exit. The sites are nicely spaced with trees all around. I do not know if there was a 'full sun' site. The first sites, in the generator area, have an easier access to the beach. The 'no generator' sites, that back up to the Lake, sit on a high bluff overlooking the lake. A nice place to set up a chair & just sit. There had been stairs down to the beach but these have been damaged by bad storms. The vault toilets are brand new. We saw them installed in May 2024. To really see the pictured rocks you need to take one of the cruises. Someone other than me, may know how to see them without a cruise.

We LOVED 12 MILE!! It was absolutely gorgeous and remote! the campsite had plenty of room between sites. i only wish we knew there was a generator side. we would have stayed many more nights.

Quiet campground tucked up on the top of the lakeshore. Staircase to long, lovely beach.

An absolutely gorgeous spacious setting. Each site had shade, forest, and views of Lake Superior. I will be back. I rank it a 9 out of 10 due to the lack of full bathroom and shower facilities. There were clean vault toilets though.

A great central location to explore both ends of the Pictured Rocks area. We have a camper but noted the nice tent pads in each site.

Beautiful Site ! In woods with just enough privacy and easy access to lake. Like some other campers have mentioned please bring water and ice on the way. The sunset was simply beyond words and a must do.. though you don't have to do anything, it will set itself.
Only thing that was kind of put off were the biting flies.. these were approximately 356,294 and then I stopped counting. They are on beach and at campground. Just as you get out of water the flies swarm you for juice. Got bitten by the couple of horse flies while still in water.... glad that got ticked off my bucket list.
Would I go back yes absolutely but with a tanker of fly repellent.
