Maybe the time of year, but there was no host and some questionable unattended tents. The sight we reserved was too small to stay connected with RV; more information on the website would have helped. Moved to a larger site but no utility hookups.

Great place to stop overnight while traveling or to spend a week. Walking trails, the river and clean showers. What else is there?

We stopped enroute to Southern California. Site 018 is a paved level site with 30 amp and water hookups. Great overnight stop for us and we will definitely stop again.

Nice campsite. Full hookups, close to the Sacramento River. Didn't use any facilities. Only overnighted. Well laid out. Would return.

I was a bit worried about an "urban" campground, but the facilities were in good working order, and the camp host welcomed me while I was still getting parked to answer any questions and give me the bathroom codes. (I think her name was Lee.) The electricity was welcome since it was over 100 degrees when I arrived. Most importantly, I felt safe camping there. I'd camp there again if traveling on I-5.

The campground itself is very nice, well groomed and clean. We have stayed here several times over the last 4 years and have noticed an increase in what seems to be homeless camping here. Our first time we stayed here the camp hosts told us that they were cleaning up the homeless camp sites and asking them to leave. Now it seems to be a problem again with homeless campers simply moving from site to site every couple of days. Law enforcement made 3 trips to the campground in one day responding to calls while we were there for our 4 day camp trip. I spoke to one of the deputies and he told me they try to cruise through on a regular basis to show there presence. It seemed to us that at least 50% of the campers there were homeless. The campsites looked very similar to homeless encampments you see on the streets in Sacramento. We will think twice before returning to Sycamore Grove campground in the future.

Very nice and friendly park hosts. RV sites are widely spaced and open, surrounded by mowed grass. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. This is the nicest park we stayed in.

Campgrounds themselves were great. The road into and out of the campground flooded while we were there. Stuck in the camp. Extra night no fee. Nice camp hosts that kept us informed about what was going on. The water finally went down enough the next night that we could get our motorhome out by going very slow as to not create a wake. I would still come back again as it is a very nice place.

It was a joy to stay in such a well managed campground. Its so easy for these places to fall into disrepair but everything about this place was just excellent. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the grounds well kept, the bathroom was spotless. We also walked up and around the gardens and the interpretive center, another stellar experience. The people there were welcoming and generous with their time. We will stay there again.

Helped a family of 6 with getting a spot because they were homeless. Wouldnt let me use my discount pass. Like govt needs that money more than I do, or the family! Burnt my paper plates and napkin, was told I didnt have a permit. Then they made it a point to tell me the homeless families spot went against my 14 days so I couldnt stay two weeks. Yep, sorry yall but yall can keep it. Beautiful country, but way too much big bro for me!!

The campground is easy to get to off the expressway. Lots of amenities in the area. The campground had a lot of trees, which is nice for shade. The trees were not maintained though and there were a lot of branches dragging across our motorhome as we drove around or within our campsite. Only some of the sites had electric and water, which is a shame because for the most part those were the only ones occupied. There is no dump, which all the reviews indicated that we read. We ended up dumping at a Love's for another cost. This campground is worth doing a few more updates to make it easier to camp here and bring in some more campers.

Nice campground. We stayed at the end of February, so not many sites were occupied. There are trails which are easily accessible. We did notice that there was a foul odor at the end of the CG furthest from the entrance.

I felt very safe because the camp host surveys and scrutinized everything that goes on here. I really appreciate that quiet hours are inforced. The grounds were kept very clean. The shower handles need repairs so hot and cold can be adjusted. We loved the nature preserve that was on site. I would love to come back in the spring.

Pleasant setting, very easy access, decent places to walk the dog. For us it was a stop-over on our way somewhere else, but we were happy with the quiet.

The campground at Sycamore Grove is quite nice, although I thought I might be able to see/access the Sacramento River from the camp area. Views of the river are blocked by vegetation, but you can access the river shores from the day use area, a short walk away. The trails are really nice and we enjoyed walking on them. You can hear a bit of I-5 noise from the campground but it is not overly intrusive. The camp host was very pleasant and informative. However the mens room shower needs repair. I tried the handicapped shower, and it never got warm. The upper nozzle was limp and hanging straight down, and the lower nozzle was missing , resulting in a painful jet of not really warm water. Since I had already put in my coin and was naked, I stayed in that shower and it was not pleasant. My wife took a shower in the woman's side and reported it hot and fine.Having been to many campgrounds this would have been a 4 star, but dropped to a three star due to the shower. It was calm, and peaceful overnight, the electricity worked, and it's very convenient to those traveling on I-5.

We have been visiting Sycamore Grove for many years except during 2 years of the pandemic. We try to come in spring when the Valley Oaks are just starting to bud and everything is green. The temperatures can be quite hot but there are many shady sites to choose from. Although this park is just outside Red Bluff and highway traffic is slightly audible, it feels quite isolated. In town there is a good grocery store, Raley's, and our favorite, El Gallo Giro Taco Truck, just a few yards west of the freeway at exit 649 (enormous, savory burritos).
