When I arrived around 4 p.m., someone was still camping at my reserved site. I politely let the person know that I had that spot reserved for the week. When the person in my spot was not cooperative, I reached out to the Communications Center. A Park Ranger was dispatched promptly. I appreciated that support. It was a private camp spot with a pretty view. This site is mostly sand/dirt though. When it rained, the site was messy. It is a hike to the bathrooms and the water pump. Beware of the poison ivy- off the path leading up to the sites from the parking, in the vegetation at the site, and along the little path leading down to the river from the site. Overall, it was nice get away despite these things.

Beware- very close to road, lots of foot traffic on c&o. Running water- disgusting toilets- arrived and left immediately

No camp host/ park ranger on site. Locals use it as a hangout at night. The party two sites over played music until after 3 am. Same group ended up in a physical and verbal fight, resulting in the police arriving . NOT A SAFE CAMP. Shame because the view was beautiful

Site 20 is the last site in the campground and offers near 100% privacy with easy access to the Potomac. It’s a short 100 yard trip to the car. Sites were tidy, lots of history, very cool stop. Be aware it’s buggy and very primitive. Bring your own water and there’s no showers on site so plan accordingly. Convenient to a day trip to Harpers Ferry and Charlestown has all the stores you need for provisions

Poison ivy is surrounded by the campsite. It wasn't fun to keep an eye on every time we turn. The paths to the river are full of poison ivy. The campsite has a nice campfire pit and the picnic table is very sturdy. It is a private site and that is a bonus. No trees to hang the hammocks because of poison ivy. Nothing to hang. Water pump is not very far. Potty johns are a bit further so if need to go to the bathroom. Be sure to not hold in. The bathroom is nasty. It is not clean. Potty John is much better.
