Couldnt stay at this location had to go to a different one the description isnt very clear. After driving hours to get there I had to park on the road and we had to cross a narrow bridge with our equipment it was impossible with all the things my family and I had.

The camp site was excellent!

The bathroom and water pump are in the center of the camp. If you stay at the end of the camp it is a pretty good walk to get to the pump and bathroom.

Overall the camp site was nice and very close to a pretty river...but...two trains went by within earshot and woke us up, cars driving by on a nearby road woke us up, you get the drift.

The site was clean and there were bathrooms within walking distance (with toilet paper).

Would I go back? Probably not, but it was nice to do once.

Your 2021 camp host was kind and extremely helpful. He gets 5 stars! The setting is lovely. Our overall camping experience was limited, thus we rated the campsites with a 3 star, as it is really for the water enthusiasts, runners, or bicyclists. If there had been some area of a defined 'beach' so to say to enjoy the river for those not bringing a boat, this would have enhanced our experience. The tow path trail is an easy stroll for those who like limited directional straight line walking but, the water views are limited. Be prepared to park your car walk your gear to your site. This would definitely be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.

The site was poorly maintained and it appeared people were living there vice camping.

Awesome campsite! (site 1) Very large campgrounds. Don't count on the fire pit grill grating (some are busted), but the barbeque stands are solid. Be aware that it is close to a hunting grounds so you may be awoken early in the morning by loud shooting. The train can also be heard but wasn't that loud. Some of the camp sites are bright at night due to a street lap across the road shining into them (on the higher number side of the bathroom). No trash cans, as in the entire C&O canal park, so there was a lot of litter when we arrived. Be sure to pack out your trash!
