well kept site, lots of space, firepit and picnic table were perfect, creek views were stunning, access to the towpath was easy, bathrooms were clean enough

Excellent primitive camping experience. Very rustic. The C&O Towpath is very busy, so plan accordingly. Lots of eyes on your campsite 24 hours a day, so this adds a feeling of security to be in the company of many like-minded individuals. Expect foot traffic and site occupancy to increase exponentially on weekends, and make sure to check the local calendars of events for activities that could add additional complications. Easily accessible to Shepherdstown, WVA just a couple of minutes east for any modern needs. All told, I could not ask for better arrangements than Antietam Creek Campground. I will definitely return regularly.

We really enjoyed this campsite. Campsites 8 and 9 are closest to the footbridge to carry gear in/out since you can’t park at the site itself. It’s maybe a 1-2 walk to your car. Fire pit and charcoal grill at each site.
Downsides are no water at the campground and only bathroom was a portable. There was increased noise from the road and air traffic above but nothing outrageous. Lots of dogs at the campground and one barked most of the night. Not a negative on the site itself but something to be aware of. Our site had leftover trash (some plastic cups in the fire pit and a plastic grocery bag in the bushes).
Town of Sharpsburg is very close. We got ice cream at Nutter’s (there was a line wrapped around the corner and it was worth it). If you’re into history, Antietam Battlefield is 15 mins away and has much to explore.
Overall a very pleasant one night stay!

We had site 9, close to the bridge and not far from the toilets. Except for some road noise, this is a perfect place to camp. So many birds and animals, peaceful river. Definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed this site. I did not read that these sites are not drive up sites. Luckily site 9 is the closest the to bridge and the parking area. Over all really satisfied with the place. I hiked the canal tow path a few miles in each direction and swam in the Potomac.

Unfortunately, there was no water at the campsite due to a problem noted in recent (4days ago) testing . We luckily had water from our last campsite, but would have been in a serious jam if we had not. If water is not available, the campers who have reserved a spot should be notified by email of the new concern. We woke up to lots of mosquitos which was not pleasant - bring big spray!The site was large and roomy and the canal was beautiful!

Great host at the campsite. He was asking everybody how everything was and if we needed something. Bathrooms were clean!

My girlfriend and I reserved campsite 9. When we got here, someone had already set up in our spot. They hurried and put out their fire and rushed into the tent and we never saw them for the rest of the night. We never got to stay at our site that night. People can be so rude!

The area is so gorgeous. It can be busy with cyclists cruising by and/or camping, but I enjoy the activity and the otherwise peaceful surroundings. It's a fantastic base for cycling on the towpath or exploring the nearby historic sites.Gary - the campground host, is fantastic! He made a point to greet everyone when they arrived and answer any questions they may have.This was my second stay at Atietam Creek. I will definitely be back.

Very simple setup, it had everything I needed. it was right on the water. I would go back.

I am not a believer in ghosts, but this place might be haunted. My wife and I stayed here during our honeymoon, and we both heard marching footsteps at several times during the night. There was no one else camping at the time. It is ghostly and eeriely beautiful here, the fog covers the ground in the morning and the creek moves very slowly and quietly. Be warned that many, many men fought and died not 100 yards from the campsites. We will definitely be back.

Love this park . Shower and restroom is clean . There is hot shower . The camp site is good size and clearly.

Quiet, not alot of other campers. Right by the water and accessible to Harpers ferry.
