The pot-a-johns and the outhouses were not well maintained. Make sure to bring your own TP. The water point was a great distance from the sites the lower numbered sites. A short drive from the battlefield, overall, a great location.

The location is very convenient for anyone wanting to tour the battlefield and then overnight nearby, and the proximity to the river is also a bonus. While the tents were spaced reasonably far away from each other, there are no trees or anything to obstruct the view from one tent to the next, so don't expect much privacy. All in all, while I prefer a more rugged experience, this campsite is great for anyone looking to go tent camping in the Antietam area.

The camp maintenance is not good

We had a minor hiccup with the park ranger giving our site to someone else but everything was resolved the next morning. Our host was the sweetest and the site was clean and relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay at Antietam Creek. I didn't realize that you had to park your car on the road and then cross a bridge and walk along the canal to get to my campsite. I would still recommend camping here.

This was a great experience! I was in spot 13 which had a lot of sunlight and little tree coverage. I'd recommend spot 12 for anyone that's booking as it had great canopy coverage for shade and hammocks as well as a carved stump to use as a chair (pretty cool). A couple of things to take note of: --Spots 12,13,14 are right by the water pump which is functional (with a handle, despite the warning in the description) so it's pretty loud and squeaky when people use it throughout the day and sometimes night. --You really are right along the C&O hiking path so you'll hear people riding/walking by talking and/or playing music throughout the day. You get used to it but don't expect privacy... people will be commenting on your campsite. --It seems like most sites do have a cut in the tree line so that you can theoretically can right to the Potomac. The access at 13 is an extremely steep hill that you can't easily walk down or come back up. So keep in mind that you'll either need to dress accordingly to cut through the bushes, try to access it from another campsite, or use one of the public access areas. --There was no COVID distancing between campsites. I had campers on both sides of me all weekend so the note about spacing wasn't accurate. Overall I loved it! I had a great time kayaking, enjoying the fire, and sitting around being lazy. Will definitely come back to this one to explore the battlefield.
