Only ones there on a Saturday night in February. Port-a-potties super clean. Quiet and peaceful (though the occasional train across the river). Weve been here in summer and winter and really enjoy it. Having the C&O right there is wonderful for a walk or run. Its a beautiful stretch.

Great place for a camp out with friends.

A pretty much isolated location so be prepared. The location itself was very wonderful as it was our first visit. Other campers were pretty much hospitable and respectful of space. Areas pretty laid out & clean. Saw rangers on patrol each day during visit and they were hospitable as well. We had a very good experience even with the one storm that passed through.

I am due a REFUND OF $20. We NEVER got to the Campsite because of the TUNNEL!??? No Access to the Campground.? Ridiculous

Campground was very clean and there was a local police that came through a couple of times. A beautiful spot along the Potomac. We would go back again.

Trash from previous campers left around, including leftover dishes and cans that were tossed into the firepit and brought in a bunch of ants. The railroad is REALLY close and we heard trains late at night and EARLY in the morning. The website states that only 1 vehicle per camp is allowed, but the sign at the camp says two are allowed. The area isn't bad at all, and you have really close access to the river, but not ideal either.

Riverside camp spots have a lot of overgrowth on the riverside bank. There is no access to the river from your camping spot. Nice small campground, well pump water, and A LOT of port-a-potty's.... too many.. whichever direction the wind blows, there is a waft of port-a-potty smell throughout.

Boat ramp access in the park for river use. Was an ok spot for a night stay along a multi-day trip. Maybe try again towards winter. If it is really hot, I would not want to be around all those toilets...

McCoy's Ferry Campground is one of our most favorite places to camp. It was great earlier this spring when it first opened, but when we returned last week for an overnight stay the campground was not as clean and as well maintained as it usually is. A bit disappointing, but still a really treasure for those wishing to have a quiet, restorative time in a pastoral setting without big rigs, etc.

We stayed mid-March, which is off-season. At 4pm on a Sunday, we were alone here. Ample pit toilets and porta-jons. Level sites with lovely river views. Enjoyed coming in through the tunnel in our 9’ tall van. Very peaceful and quiet.

The campground and the sites were great! We loved being on site 7 right by the water. Due to the time of year, the place was completely empty and quiet, which we truly enjoyed. There were a couple of cars in the middle of the night, one of which pulled up right next to us, which got us a bit worried, but they left after a couple of minutes. The ranger stopped by the following day and was very friendly and helpful. The port-a-potties were clean. Overall a wonderful experience.

Super nice campground - small, quiet and plenty of clean port-a-loos. What's not to like?

Instructions and reminders via email were very helpful. Everything was straightforward when we arrived.

Conveniently placed tent and small RV campground on the C&O canal. Can be full on weekends so plan ahead.

Needs better (larger ? more?) signage at camping entrance re "Registered Campers Only". Unnerving - the amount of cars that drive to end and turn around and leave. Causes safety concerns.
This said - grateful the use of this beautiful campground.
Our national parks need funding.

Very isolated. That was good until the one other couple in the campground got into a shouting match at 2am. We ended up calling the police and leaving when they arrived. Didn’t feel safe. Too bad, it is a beautiful location.

Great site beside the Potomac and C&O canal.

It was the worst campground i've ever been to. No security at all. There was no way i would stay in that spot, just lost my money .Thanks
@NathanC508 · Camped on Feb 20, 2021 at Campsite #7
McCoy was an awesome experience. The sites are right next to the river and had beautiful views of the mountains. We had no issues entering the site and setting up our tent. I plan on coming back for sure. McCoy is only an hour from my house, and I'm glad I discovered it.
